DH, DD6, DD3 and I have a trip planned for October staying at AoA. Because of flight prices we have made a change to fly down a night early and stay at the Hyatt Regency Orlando. Our first 'park day' is for MNSSHP. Since we're now going to have a lot of time before the party and likely won't have a room yet I was thinking that we would kick off our trip with a character breakfast and get the girls into the Disney spirit. The plan would be to drop off our luggage and then head to our dining reservation. I open to other suggestions as well - thanks in advance!

Your kids' ages, they'd really likely enjoy any of the character breakfasts however, from a food quality standpoint, I'd pick topolino's. CM and Ohana meals are pretty basic breakfast fare, not bad but nothing special. I know Topolino's changed the ordering and you can't get entrees as sides anymore so it's less bang for your buck but it's still a solid breakfast and the restaurant is really pretty with great views. Pretty sure they're all very similarly priced too. Also, I think Topolino's is less rushed feeling than the others. They all operate the same in that they get the characters going on a rotation for each seating but to me I feel like Chef Mickey's is the worst of them all, they're just trying to get you in and out really fast.

I voted for Topolino's. Will be easy to get to via skyliner (which is an attraction in and of itself) from AoA and, in my opinion, Topolino's is a bit of a unicorn in that it offers truly delicious food with characters. I also appreciate that it's not a buffet so you don't have the "hassle" of getting the kids plates and then going back for your own. The characters are Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy -- and they're in their vacation outfits that you won't see anywhere else. I think the character interaction is really well done here - they come around to each table but also all four do a bit of a parade around the restaurant periodically.

Chef Mickey's has mediocre food by far compared with Topolino's. It's also terribly noisy.

I agree that Topolino's is great fun. It's the classic couples as artists--painter, sculptor, dancer, writer--tremendous fun because so different from their usual costumes.

Also, Topolino's is far less noisy than most other character meals.

That said, DH and I love 'Ohana breakfast for Lilo and Stitch. Food is traditional American breakfast fare, family style, while Topolino's is more creative dishes. The Stitch waffles taste better than Mickey ones, IMO. 😁 Not like I'm biased, of course.

Really, we love both Topolino's and 'Ohana's breakfasts. Just depends which characters and food your family will enjoy more.

Topolino's is fantastic and, I think, it would be super fun to drop your luggage and take the Skyliner from AoA to RIV. The food is great and it's definitely the most convenient of the 3 you've listed. You could also then Skyliner to the EP resort area and go for a walk, play mini-golf, do some shopping, etc. while you kill time waiting for your room. If you don't need to do a character meal, you could take the Skyliner and do QS at RIV or head over to YC via Skyliner and eat at Ale and Compass. I don't like the food at either CM or 'Ohana, but if food quality is of less importance, I would probably decide if you would rather go to an amazingly themed resort (Poly) or if it would be more fun to eat in a restaurant and watch the monorail go through the hotel (CM) - you could then, of course, take the monorail around for fun after your meal. Another fun option, if you don't care about characters, is Whispering Canyon at WL - great food and a beautiful resort.

Cape May has an excellent character breakfast.
I didn't think about Cape May! That would be convenient to do the skyliner and then a short walk. We attempted Cape May on our first ever trip with my older daughter and she had a meltdown the second that Donald Duck came to our table. It would be good to actually experience it. Thank you!
