We were at the first MNSSHP last year, which was 9/1. Previously the parties we'd attended were all in Oct. The party last year was NOT crowded AT ALL - it was awesome We walked up to the first parade about 2 minutes before it started and got a front row spot right in front of the Shootin' Arcade (we had planned to watch the 2nd parade). Then we watched the 2nd parade, front row, by the Xmas store. Lines for characters were not as bad as they normally are at parties, but that's not to say they were short or non-existent. When it DID feel crowded was in front of the castle during HalloWishes, but I think that will be the case regardless of overall crowds.
I see mommajo143 mentioned the first party is predicted to be the least crowded; as far as going by my experience last year, it was on Labor Day as opposed to after LD so the earliness of the first party very well may have contributed to the lower attendance
We have been to a couple different parties (in early September & the last party / early November) and found each party was really manageable & fun regardless of how crowded it was... But it sounds like @ariane37 hit the jackpot last year- how awesome!
