What happens during the 2 hour meeting with the consultant (person you sign the LOA and Contract with)? I don't mean the wedding planner, I am talking about the initial meeting? :teacher:

If you are asking about meeting with the wedding Coordinator, we did a site visit and then discussed what was important to us, we looked at a cake book, general details and then she gave us one folder of menus, photography and other options etc asked about officiants, make up and then another folder that had our LOA to return along with deposit.....we just did this at the end of july.:goodvibes

I'm actually going to my 2 hour site visit meeting tomorrow while I'm on vacation with family. I'll have wifi at the offsite condo we're staying at so I can come back and tell you what went on.

Oh! That'd be great, thanks!

I'll be having mine in two weeks from today. I'll be checking out 3 reception sites we can't decide between. Prop Shop, Living Seas, and The Odyseey. I'm not sure what else will happen, but I'll be sure to post afterwards. Not sure if I'll remember my old cell to use for the internet or if it'll wait until I get home.

Let me know how you liked the Prop Shop (not sure what that even is!) and the Odyssey!

I will.
Prop Shop is in Hollywood Studios. It's filled with old props that have been used at Disney World. Some from old rides, parades, shows, and random signage. I think it's way too busy, but DFi loves the idea. So we're going to look at it, in a hope to sway me into it. It would fit our Around the "world" theme really well though.

The Odyssey is my first choice, but DFi and the rest of my family thinks it's too big for 50 or so guests. Although, I saw pictures where it didn't look too big, but we'll be there when it's empty and I'll be better able to figure out table placement and such.

Where is the Odyssey? I'm in a similar situation. Just got engaged and starting my planning, and am trying to decide on a reception location. We were interested in the American Pavilion at Epcot, but we won't have the required 100 guests (probably just around 70ish). So I have no idea where to have it now, so I'll be interested to hear what you think. We want a place where we can do the traditional wedding reception, with a dance floor, etc.

The Odyssey is located in Epcot between Test Track and Mexico. It's currently just used for special events and during Food and Wine Festival. It was a stage that you can set the DJ on or your sweatheart table. It's large enough for a traditional set up. We aren't planning on a dj. I've been inside it once about 3 years ago during Flower and Garden to do some shopping (it was used for the gift shop) In the 80s it was a counter service that had a character show and then the characters came around.

Thanks for clarifying this. So it's an inside location? We are definitely wanting our reception inside since it will be hot in September when we have the wedding. I remember a building between test track and the Mexico location, but not sure if that is what this is. It's where we have stopped to use the restroom once or twice. Does anyone have pictures of the Odyssey? Is it big enough for ~70 guests? So many questions during the planning!

It is indoors. We're having our ceremony next Labor Day so I understand the heat thing. It has a maximum of 250-400 depending on your set up.

here is a picture of the outside:

I'm thinking of Labor Day weekend as well, but in 2011! I know, long time away, but I have to finish school first before we can start our "wedding savings account"...

That is the building I was thinking of. Good to hear it can hold a large group, but do you know if it has a minimum number of people that Disney requires? Like how American Parlour requires 100?

Has anyone had their reception at the Odyssey? How did you like the space?

It doesn't have a min that I've been told about. As far as I can tell it hasn't been used. My consultant didn't think it had. I'll send you a PM with the information I have.

I just got back home from my mini-vacay and I updated my planning journal with pics and info on the site visit. YOu can see the update in my PJ. I hope it helps!
