I first heard about DVC when OKW and BWV were both being offered. I really wanted OKW but by the time I was ready to buy it was sold out (or maybe limited UY I'm not sure about that). Anyway, my agent (what do you call those people again) Celeste assured me that the new DVC location was fabulous and she was sure I would be very happy with it. She was right, I am, but I still love OKW. We have stayed there almost as much as BWV and more than all of my other DVC's combined. I'm splitting a stay in May, 5 nigths at both BWV and OKW and I am more excited about OKW. Yes, I know I can still add on, but I'm done with that. I'll have to be happy with admiring from afar.

Most of our points are at BWV. We love it there. It is so easy for DH, who is in a scooter, to get to 2 parks. But we bought an OKW contract also. We have not stayed there in a while and I am very excited to be back there in a few days. The 1 bedroom seems massive, the balcony is great and you can't beat the full size washer and dryer. I share your love!

You own DVC points that work at each of the DVC properties! You are part of the "in crowd" (or possibly "inn crowd" if you'll forgive the pun) with respect to Disney Vacations. The (Walt Disney) World is your oyster and playground.

The cruising crowd isn't often faithful to just one ship. We might love the features of one ship, staff of another and the itineraries of a third. When asked, "Which is your favorite ship?" most will respond, "The one I'm ON!"

You are invited to fully LOVE the DVC resort you are at, just left, have booked or have plans to book. And based on the evidence of your post you are already doing exactly that :

Do you feel better now?

I sort of know what you mean, every time I stay at VWL or even walk through the lobby, I sort of sigh and think it could have been ours if we had just taken the time to check into DVC more thoroughly back in 1990 whatever. But now we just use our points to stay there every so often. An add-on at VWL just isn't in our future.

I know what you mean. We bought SSR a few years ago and debated between it and OKW. I really wanted OKW, but DH wanted the longer contract. We love SSR too, but OKW is my favorite property. We even stayed there twice before becoming members. I actually like that the resort is spread out because I love the grounds and enjoy walking around. DH and I got away there for a long weekend this past September and spent half of our trip just relaxing at the resort. We have a trip in November and the kids have asked if we can stay there again. :goodvibesNow that we are no longer park commandos, we love the escape back to the resort that is as much a part of our vacation as the parks. We are not looking to add on yet, but some day, if we do, it will be there!

By your own account, you have stayed at OKW a lot. So no need to admire from afar when you have been able to stay there so often.

Fortunately, if you want to book at a non-home resort, OKW is one of the easiest to book almost all year round. SSR is larger, and easiest to book, but OKW is often available especially if you book right at 7 months.

My guess is that if you want to stay at OKW as if it were your home resort, you will be able to do so the majority of the time. So it sounds like the only thing you are missing about OKW is the ability to call it your home resort, and of course the lower dues that would have come with it. All in all, I'd say you're in pretty good shape for future DVC visits.

I can relate although my problem is the reverse of yours. When I originally bought in both OKW & BWV were being sold. I bought at OKW. I thought BWV would be crazy noisy and I would absolutely hate it there with all the hustle & bustle and constant activity. Also at the time I purchased in order for me to buy BWV I would have had to go back down to FL to sign the papers as they weren't licensed to sell BWV in NY at that time. I was perfectly happy with my decision to buy at OKW. Fast forward a few years to 1998/1999. They had the special lottery for being able to book the Christmas/NYE holiday period where every one was permitted to put in their name for any of the DVC properties that existed at that time no matter what your home resort was. I got picked in the lottery for those who could reserve at BWV. I wanted to be at WDW for NYE but not Christmas so I had absolutely no problem booking what I wanted when I called. I fell in love with BWV on that trip. I added on although not quite as many points as I would have liked. I also wanted VWL but that wasn't being sold yet. I think once they finally started selling VWL I knew that there would one day be DVC at DL GC so I never did get points at VWL although I love staying there too when I can. I can honestly say that I have enjoyed each of the DVC properties I've stayed at so far. Some day I may stay at BLT but the one time I stayed at the Contemporary I decided I liked staying anywhere else on property including the value resorts way better than the Contemporary. It just doesn't feel Disney there to me. One of these days I'll get around to staying at AKV, BCV and HHI and maybe even Aulani. But I think I'm done buying points since I got my GCV add-on when that was being sold finally.
