My local news reported Johnny Cash has died. I can't find any links to a news report. Can anyone confirm this?

I just saw this headline on CNN News: Entertainment and was coming to post--

BREAKING NEWS U.S. country singer Johnny Cash dies at his home near Nashville, aged 71. Details soon.

I wondered if he could last long without June. Guess not. :(

Yes, I turned on the TV to see what happened to John Ritter and they were announcing they just heard about Johnny Cash. How sad a day! "Clifford" (as DS knew John Ritter) and the Man in Black!

Country Music Legend Johnny Cash Dies

Friday , September 12, 2003

NEW YORK — Johnny Cash (search), a towering figure in American music spanning country, rock and folk and known worldwide as "The Man in Black," has died, according to hospital officials in Nashville, Tenn. He was 71.

"Johnny died due to complications from diabetes, which resulted in respiratory failure," said Cash's manager, Lou Robin, in a press release issued by Baptist Hospital in Nashville.

The release said Cash died at the hospital at 1 a.m. EDT. He was released from Baptist on Wednesday where he had spent two weeks being treated for an unspecified stomach ailment.

"I hope that friends and fans of Johnny will pray for the Cash family to find comfort during this very difficult time," Robin said

My Favorite song was Burning Ring of Fire

Thanks for the confirmation, guys.

I, too, thought about his wife. Just as in my family, couples who are that devoted to each other just NEED to be together elsewhere.

God bless, Johnny and John....

:(

A sad day indeed. We've lost another legend. Prayers go out to the family, friends and fans of both Johhny and John.

How sad. :(

It was reported that Johnny's health was failing since the death of June. I guess he died of a broken heart. :( I take comfort in knowing that they are now reunited. :)

I agree with the posts that say he died of a broken heart.
He was a real singing legend.:(

I always was embaarassed that I liked Johnny Cash, I will miss him

My goodness! What a sad day. :( I hadn't heard about this either.

I just read about Johnny Cash....how very sad. :( A fascinating, and very talented man.

The passing of these men is indeed very sad. However, how is it that we have men/women giving their lives for our freedom and their deaths are seldmon mentioned on the NEWS. But celebrities die, postpone weddings, etc. and they make NATIONAL NEWS. IMHO, it seems that our "journalistic reporting" has some serious flaws.
