We woke up early because MK opened at 8am and we wanted to be there to open it. I turned on the TV and watched my favorite channel while at WDW - the channel that has the different theme parks and has the Zip a Dee Doo Dah Tip to Today. . . I watched, and got ready, I kept watching and fixed my hair. . . I kept watching this Samantha Brown from the Travel Channel wannabe girl . . . NO TIP! OH NO!!!! No Zip a Dee Doo Da Tip for Today! I love that!!!! I love that little song!!!! That is how we know we are at the WORLD! boo hoo sob sob. . . Oh well . . .

So we are at the bus stop at 7am after our breakfast of Krispy Cremes that we can't get at home but bought at Albertsons (mmmmmm). The bus comes promptly at 7:05. Speaking of that - the bus service was really great this time around. Last time we stayed at the All Stars, it wasn't that great, but this time we never waited more that 10 minutes coming or going. It was fantastic.

Anyway, we get to the MK and take a few pictures of the Mickey Statues. before they open up the turnstiles at 7:45am. And let us go up to where the strollers are where there is a rope. I never saw them do this before. I remember the good ole days where they would let you all the way up to the end of Main Street to await the rope drop, but I haven't seen that in our last 5 trips.

Anyway, about 5 minutes til 8am, the deputy Mayor (I didn't know there was a deputy mayor until today- I have met the mayor before) appears up on the train station and starts in with a song and about 6 dancers and then the train arrives FULL of characters who are there to help count down the opening. It was very magical. At 8, we headed straight to Dumbo. We were the FIRST riders of the day! We didn't even get a colored ticket! wow! Cool! Crap! It was COLD that early in the morning flying around on an elephant in the air! But it warmed up to about 73 later that day.

We packed jeans, and tshirts with light jackets and gloves and that seemed to be the perfect clothes for this trip.

We did our usual rides like Pooh and then went to the Tomorrowland Speedway before the line got too long. This is the first time I rode this since 1977. Usually, DH takes DS and I just wait, but this time there was virtually no line, so I went too. I drove behind the boys and laughed hysterically at my DS' driving. Then I thought about how it wouldn't be so funny in a few years when he turns 16. ugh.

We did Buzz with no wait and then Nicolas drops the bombshell of the day.. . . "I want to ride Space Mountain." WHAT? ? ? ? You want to do WHAT???? Roy is beside himself with pride that only a father can feel when his son takes a brave step like this on his own. I on the other hand, like a good mother, try to talk him out of it. Honey, it is a roller coaster. . it's in the dark!!! Are you sure???? All the time I am saying this Roy is giddy with the giggles practically skipping toward the huge white mountain. I am doing the fast worried mother walk behind them. Roy says through the tears he is choking back . . "Son, I have waited to 5 years to hear you say those words." ugh.

So we go. And walk and walk and walk and then we get to the front and Nicolas says, I don't want to go!!!! Roy turns around and looks and keeps walking through the turnstile in denial. Thankfully, the CM heard Nicolas and asked me to step aside and let him decide. Nicolas says no. The CM hands me a ticket where I can come back when Roy gets done and we head back down the fast pass line out the door. As we are waiting, Nicolas decides, that YES! He DOES WANT TO RIDE! So when Roy comes out, here we go again. The CM lets all 3 of us back through the FP line with my parent swap ticket and we ride. When we get done, Nicolas decides that he will NEVER ride again! But could he PLEASE have something from the gift shop since he did ride???

AHA! That's why he rode! The ole- "I will ride if I can have something from the gift shop rountine." Well, I bought him a Space Mountain bottle strap to attach his Pal Micky to.

Then we headed back to Fantasyland and did Mickey's Philharmagic. Now, I am a member of the Funky Eye Club. This is a club started by me and some other DISers recently who all say that we just don't see the 3D effects in the movies. Well, I can see the ones in Philharmagic. The gems that fall around during the Little Mermaid sequence looked so real that Nicolas fell out of his seat trying to grab them out of the air. And the apple pie smell is amazing. I got a cool tie dyed Donald Duck shirt in the gift shop.

We headed over to the Haunted Mansion. This is my DS' favorite ride of all time. We spent WAY too much money in the little gift wagon when it was over. We also went and ate at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe' (LOVE this place) I met the DISers ZURG and ZURG'S WIFE here! (And family). I had on my lime green DIS shirt and they called out hello fellow Diser! NEAT! First time I have ever met a DISER at WDW and it was cool. Zurg's son even pointed out that I must have been to their website badshoe.com because I knew exactly how to wear comfortable park shoes. I really felt like I had met a celebrity because Zurg is such a nice guy around here. ;)

After eating, we headed over to Adventureland. It is getting crowded by now. I suggest that Roy and Nicolas ride Aladdin while I go get FP for Splash Mountain.

OOOOO big mistake. I got caught between the afternoon parade crowd and couldn't get back over into AdventureLand until it was over. I even tried the little "secret path" that runs down by the river. It was no secret path today. I made it all the way down and had to go all the way back up. Couldn't cross anywhere. So I just had to wait it out until Santa went by and then I had to take those teeny tiny I'm walking in a crowd and can't breath baby steps all the way back to Pirates of the Carribean until the crowd thinnned out. Roy and Nicolas had been waiting for a while.

We then waited in a terribly long line for Pirates and then rode the TTA (aka People Mover) and Carosel of Progress like 3 times just in case it is closed again for our next 4 trips and then it was time for dinner. We got to open LTT for dinner! yea! We had a 4pm PS and they asked us if we wanted to open. We got to ring the bell and say "HEAR YE HEAR YE LET FREEDOM RING!" And we got our picture made with all the characters at once! And we got a certificate. Neat! As I was going up to say my important line, another DISER saw my shirt! I met gometro. He was very nice!

After a yummy meal at LTT, we did a bit more shopping and headed back to get some sleep before the next day.

much fun.....thanks so much for your trip report.....

Great report! How cool you met our Evil Emperor Zurg.

I didn't know Space Mountain had a bottle strap I will have to look out for those next time.

Got caught in a people trap during the parade?
