At what age does a little boy usually get his first haircut? I just read about the first haircut package at the barborshop and it looked so cute!

That'll depend on how much hair he has at birth and how quickly it grows. :)

My DS will be 22 months.

I have trimmed round his ears but his first proper cut will be on Main Street!

You know, we got our DS's first haircut at Main Street, on his 2nd birthday, and he really didn't like it. I had read about how the barbers were "specialists" but I didn't think the guy who did ours was anything special. I had to hold him in my lap and he cried.

But he needed that haircut --- until then, I cut his hair while he slept and night and you can imagine how it turned out all the time.

Once he hit 2 1/2, my husband took him to his same barber, and now my DS isn't fazed at all with the clippers giving him a little buzz cut. Doesn't care.

So I would recommend you wait until 2 1/2, but that is only based on one mom's experience!

Is it considered the first haircut if only you have cut their hair? My DS is 3 but he has never been to a barber. My DH and I have done it since we don't think he would sit still. I am considering going to the Barber Shop in November when we go. Would they still consider that his first haircut?

My younger DS had his "first haircut" In the world. Honestly it was not his first cut! He was 18 months at the time. When we brought him in they asked if it was his first cut and I said yes! Michel cut his hair and he was great he sat him on a booster seat and stuck mickey stickers all over him!!! The stickers kept him occupied!:D Gave him a nice little boy cut and special mickey ear's and a certificate. Now my older DS got his cut also and when she was done cutting his hair she spiked it up with blue gel. Then she asked him if he would like some pixie dust, and of course he said yes :D and she sprinkled a ton of multi-colored sparkly mickey heads on his hair!! It was very cute he had a huge smile on his face!! Go for it!! Each kid is differant my youngest is very out going so it was no big deal for him to be smiling and having a good time. My oldest at that age probably would have freaked out and cried! Have a GREAT time!!!:wave2:

Does anyone know if they will do buzz cuts/flat tops?

Nanu57v .... where did you read the information about the haircut package?

maciec,

I don't believe there is a package. If it is your child's first hair cut, they get mickey ears with "First Haircut" written on back. Our oldest DD had her first haircut at age 4 at WDW. It was a blast! :teeth:

I'm planning to take my 15-month old for his first haircut at MK in Sept. He has sort of a baby-mullet (as DH calls it) going on, the back is long enough for a tiny, although thin, ponytail.

I hope he does well, but I won't force it if he doesn't. MIL has been threatening to take him and get his haircut, until she found out why I was waiting. If it doesn't work at Disney, I'll let her do it, and I'll take the pics!

They will do flat tops. That is what my older DS got when we were there last year. It is a fun experience for the older kids too. Especially when he got the mickey head pixie dust!

Both my boys will be getting their first haircuts when we go. One DS will be 4 1/2 and we will never have touched his hair since he was shiny head bald til he was 2 yrs old. The other DS wil be celebrating hi 2nd birthday and he has the same amount of hair . So I think first haircuts can be any age.

My granddaughter got her first haircut two years ago at MK ... she was 5½.

Maura made a big deal over cutting it ... yes, she got the first hair cut certificate, mouse ears and stickers. Cissy enjoyed it so much she refuses to have her haircut anywhere but MK.

My grandson enjoys getting his hair cut there too ... he usually ends up with a spiky do decorated with washable colored gel and pixie dust sprinkled on.

DD1 has literally never had a strand cut. She will be a 1.5 weeks shy of 2 when we go (can you say "Birthday Trip"!). I am trying to convince DH to do this, and that they will not make her look like a boy (her hair is dirty blond with short spiral curls). Her bangs are getting too long also. How much for a haircut at MK? Would they just do her bangs and stil give her the Mickey ears and stuff? Do they charge less just for the bangs? Her hair is pretty thin and unruly, and she pushes everyone away when they try to style it....

Our daughter is the same way. Won't let anyone comb her hair, I can't get a hair clip in her hair to save my life. We also will be having her haircut on her 2nd bday. I am hoping for the best.
