Any experiences with the first haircut at the harmony barber shop? Seems pretty reasonably priced under $20 (well reasonable by Disney standards...)

We're looking for something a little special for a 22 month old without breaking the bank.

We're looking for something a little special for a 22 month old without breaking the bank.

It has gotten great reviews for decades.
Reports are still overwhelmingly positive.

Make a reservation to avoid a possible long wait.

Not first haircut but they did a cute ponytails style on my granddaughter.....please note you can't add tip if paying by CC or room charge. Cash will be needed for tipping. They are so great with the kids. I actually got my bangs trimmed. I am neurotic about who cuts my hair (couldn't get appt with my regular guy for a month) and I needed bangs trimmed. Did great job plus put my hair in ponytail. Because I have heavy, thick hair I never wear my hair up because I get headaches. I never felt a twinge of headache, kept it up all day. FYI They aren't allowed to do buns because of BBB.

Thanks for the info. $19 to $25 seems like a pretty big jump, but its not like the extra $6 will impact our vacation for a one-time event

We did it 4 years ago and our daughter still loves wearing her ears! Definitely make a reservation, but it was very cute and a great experience!

We took my youngest niece for her first haircut on our trip a few years ago when she was about 1 1/2 and they were fantastic! And let me just say, she did not give them an easy time!! She was crying and howling the whole time and they did everything they could to make her happy! (We think it was them spraying her hair with water. Apart from bathing this child cannot stand being wet! Even still at 4 years old she loathes getting her hair cut!) This child was covered from head to toe in stickers and glitter and they even gave her a little toy... still every picture we have of her looks like we are trying to torture her! :rotfl: But, she was perfectly fine once her hair dried and then oooh'd and aww'd over her stickers and glitter and Mickey Ears and was telling everyone about her pretty haircut... really, we got a pretty good laugh out of her diva episode!:lmao: The haircut itself was really well done and the lady who helped us had the patience of a saint (and we tipped her as one!). They didn't take off too much or too little and they even saved us a little piece of her curls as a keepsake! It was quick and didn't break the bank either! They also were really sweet to the older kids and gave them stickers and glitter spray too!

Our DD had it done in '13. She loved it! The lady who cut her hair was great, kept her entertained with stickers and toys, and it was timed perfectly (by accident) that the Move It, Shake it parade passed by while she was in the chair!

Have fun!

OMG. That is a fantastic picture!

Were there PP photographers or just self pictures?[/QUOTE

No PP photographers. It's such a small place I doubt they'd fit. I think I took 100 pics in the 15 minutes we were in there. lol. I got some really great shots!

We did it with my son when he was 11 months old. It was AWESOME! We happened to be in there while PP photographers walked in. We got a ton of pictures! We ended up framing some of the pictures along with the 1st haircut ears & certificate in a memory box that now hangs in our livingroom.

The first haircut hat is nice- if they have them in stock. When we went in December, they didn't have any so instead mailed it to our house. I guess it was fine since he likely would not have worn it anyway and one less thing to transport home. But they did have a hat that said 1st haircut on it that they used for photos. No Photopass photographer when we went, but took plenty of our own.

can someone tell me when you can book reservations is it 30 or 60 days in advance?

I think you can book 180 days in advance.... I remember that I had made the reservation far ahead of time but forgot at what time it was supposed to be, so I called them up gave the confirmation number and they told me.

I have nothing but good things to say about it. I'm tearing up just thinking about when we took our son there for his first haircut back in 2012. Do it! You won't be disapointed. If you can get Micheal, ask for him. He's the best.

Both my boys had their first haircuts here. Those are some of our favorite memories from WDW. I would always vote, DO IT!!
