I bit the dust and booked a water view room at YC for next June. I requested non smoking, queen beds and a view of the lagoon. the price was over $400.00. I was going to wait for the codes or the AP rates to come out like I usually do but I figure do it now, pay for the one night then when and IF the rates do drop they will put the money towards my other nights. anyone else do this and then have rates not go done, I am nervous about this but hey, I"M GOING TO DISNEY AGAIN. LOL

I have booked a room before at the regular rate and then when I saw an applicable code for that time period...I called and wham! I got it. I did have to call twice. The first cast member told me that once you book it, you can't switch to another rate. So I politely hung up and called back later and got a much more informed, helpful cast member who took care of me.

It did make me nervous doing this - but then again I like your idea of having put down $400 towards the trip. That gets you a little ahead of the game. I like that.

Recently we've been booking our trips about 2 to 3 months out.

Good luck!

Nothing to add, just wanted to say "Congratulations"! LOL...YC is a wonderful resort!! :)

I loved the Yacht Club. We reserved a water view. I requested a top or upper floor room on the corner they couldn't give us any of the requests. We were put in a bttom floor room facing the lake and Boardwalk directly next to the turret. It was awesome. We had a little patio ( bigger than the balconeys) then a little gardens and then the expansive lawn, the walkway and the lake. It was like our own little estate.
I to am going to book a resort as soon as my Vacation time is approved. I will worry about codes later but will not put to much worry into it. Last year we booked a delux room at the AKL at full price and then everyone startded getting discount on regular savannah rooms and standard rooms. It was so frustrating. people were gettin dicounts at the moderates and we were moving to POFQ part way through the trip. I never got any discounts and got so frustrated. But we all loved our Stay at the AKL and the worry about codes was not worth it.

You will LOVE YC! The rooms are FAb and it is so close to Epcot(my fav park). We walked to Epcot everyday!!!

Stormalong Bay is so fun.

When I book a resort using a discount, I don't tell them about the other ressie(the one at rack rate). After I get the discounted rate, I call back & cancel the rack rate and have the deposit transferred. I have done this many times and never had a problem.

I have done exactly what you are doing for our last two trips....booked a room at rack rate and hoped for and finally got a discount much later with a code. I did this for a couple of reasons. Both times we stayed at the BWI and many times the Epcot resorts sell out completely. To make sure we have the room we want, we book early. We also save money for the worst case scenario...no codes. When we do get a code it is like having a windfall of cash for the trip!! Of course you would not want to count on any discounts for Easter week or even large discounts for Spring break time....they are few and far between. June you should have a number of options!! Good Luck!!Once you book your room all yourfun and planning can begin.....

I just got the confirmation in the mail, unfortunetly I had to cancel due to having a big household bill. Looks like I am back to waiting till the AP rates or the codes come out, Oh well, I am still gonna get there one way or another by next June:)
