First floor rooms

Looking at the possibility of booking at CC with a studio tub room that will make it likely we have a first floor room. Usually I hate first floor rooms but trying to think of positives. One of the things I hear is how convenient it is to walk out patio door and just go to the pool, do people generally feel safe keeping their patio door unlocked?

the trip will just be 20 month old DD and me (I’m a pretty petite woman) so safety is something I’m thinking about.

does anyone have any other positives about staying first floor at CC (or any resort for that matter)

I love first floor rooms! By the end of the night after a long park day, the last thing I want to do is climb stairs or walk further to an elevator. Especially true if you have a you one and may have a stroller to contend with, or a sleeping child on your shoulder.

With the first floor rooms facing the main pool, there is some heavy ground cover that would make walking from the patio to the main path difficult and you'd seem rude trampling over the vegetation.

Rooms facing the Boulder Ridge pool area is just a grassy lawn you could walk through to the path that leads down to Roaring Fork.

First floor rooms are a short walk to both pools and Roaring Fork. You could step off your patio and walk to the patio next door. Don't think many would, but it's possible to do.

A negative: it's a long walk from the 2nd floor (main floor) to the CC elevators.

Not to mention the critters - venomous and not - that could be in there.

I always wished the ground level rooms with a patio door had an access point to use magic band. That way you can lock it when you leave. It’s great to step right outside but I don’t feel comfortable leaving it unlocked. IMO I just don’t feel safe about. Too many what if’s.

Biggest positive is you do not need to use/wait for an elevator. No, I would not feel comfortable leaving any door in my room unlocked. As mentioned, vegetation around patios is usually dense to prevent people using shortcuts.

Several years ago we saw this little guy scoping out first floor rooms for the trays of leftovers some "quality" Guests leave right outside their doors.

Love first floor rooms! Happy that so many people do not. :)

No waiting for elevators or walking up/down stairs. Just walk out of your room and go.

There is a disadvantage to first floor rooms at the WL and CC. The lobby is on the second floor which means you have to go down one flight to get to your room from the lobby. The advantage of a first floor room is that there are exit doors on the ground level that would allow you to exit for the boat, pool, Geyser Point, etc, without having to use the elevator. :)
