Hi, we have just booked a last minute trip to Disney for the 2nd week of December for a week, excited is an understatement but I have some major planning to do and not alot of time.

What are the must things to do and see I have done a bit of research but have no idea what is a must do. I have booked tickets for mickeys christmas party and we will def do osborne lights but I saw there is a desert party for this also? This will probably be the only time we will ever be able to go in December due to work commitments so want to make the most of this. My DS is 5 too so any experiences that he will love.

I really like the storytellers at Epcot. A lot of people decorate their campsites at Fort Wilderness so it's kind of fun to do dinner there at Trails End or Hoop Dee Doo and see the decorations. I also love the decorations at Wilderness Lodge and Grand Floridian.

The Grand Floridian also has a huge gingerbread house that's worth checking out. I think the Contemporary also usually has some sort of chocolate display. At least they did last time we were there in December (2011).

Have to get your pic with Santa Goofy, too.

Also, for MVMCP, I'd focus on doing the special Christmas things (parade, fireworks, shows, etc) more than the rides.

Don't forget to visit Osborne lights at Hollywood Studios. Its the last year for it. We went last year and it was really cool to see all of the lights! Santa Goofy was also there.

Thanks for this. I've heard that you can take "sleigh rides" at Fort Wilderness too. That would be fun!

Epcot's Eorld Showcase is fun during Christmas, reservations for Minnie's Holiday Dine at Hollywood & Vine, and I second the suggestion of the Osbourne Lights!!

Having gone many times during December here are some things you may want to consider.

1. MVMCP-You already have tickets.
2. Osborne Lights- Great way to get in the mood. You could do the dessert party or save the money for something else.
3. Candlelight Processional- Good show and with the packages you can eat at a decent price at most of the EPCOT sit downs.
4. Holiday Storytellers around EPCOT WS. Try to see them as much as you can. The schedule make it difficult at times.
5. See the Deluxe Resorts. Many like the GF, Contemporary, Beach Club and Boardwalk have Gingerbread houses and/or Special displays.
6. There are 2 tours, the Yuletide Fantasy and Holiday D-Lights. You can read about them and decide if it is worth the money.
7. Sleigh Rides at Fort Wilderness. We are doing this for the first time this year after Hoop-dee-do revue. Sounds like fun.
8. Downtown Disney has Santa, entertainment, Ghirardelli's is usually passing out samples of Peppermint bark squares.
9. Many of the Characters are in Holiday dress. Some are as elaborate as new dresses/suits and others are as simple as a red and green scarf.
10. If you are DVC Members, don't miss the Merry Member Mixer at EPCOT most Tuesdays during the Holiday season.

As always have fun, explore, ask questions here and have a great time. We think the Holidays are even more magical than other times of the year.

if you are going to the parks, just be sure to soak up the decorations. The rides are always there, but the decorations are only during the holidays, and they really put you in a good holiday spirit.
