Phew...what a day...

So what did you guys get????

I got to spend xmas day in a great hotel in Key Largo ;) Finally away from my inlaws and my vacation really feels like it just started!!

My FIL is 85 and has dementia, it is tough to spend 4 of my vacation days with him. It gets very frustrating and tiring trying to deal with him. My MIL is much younger and has to do it everyday, I don't know how she does it!!

Anyway, the wife and I didn't get much for each other this year. I got some PJs, some disney xmas decorations and not much else.

Hope everyone had a great day with family/friends or even alone! God Bless and Merry Xmas...and Happy new year!!

Phew...what a day...

My parents arrived yesterday afternoon and my brother and his wife arrived at about 2am this morning. We slept until about 8am and then my sister and her family arrived at about 10am. The present opening began..

It was pandemonium!

The kids were everywhere. Ella, my niece, wanted to help everyone open their gifts. Eventually, she ended up under the tree and pulled out her gifts that were wrapped in princess paper. :rotfl: Jaxon, my nephew, had a short attention span. But he's only 1 so it was to be expected. I think he had more fun climbing on boxes than he did with his toys.

Mom and Dad got some good stuff. Mom was shocked when we gave her the embroidery machine. :goodvibes Dad got some sappy stuff...my sister and I got together and made him a scrapbook with pics and stuff from when we were kids. He was a blubbery mess by the time he was through with the book!

Matthew and I got some good stuff. Lots of travel themed stuff...and I got bunches of scrapbooking stuff. I'm new to scrappin', so i'm not sure what to do with some of the stuff, but it'll be fun playing! And I got a DCL Passporter to help plan the cruise!

And now for what most of you have been waiting for...

My brother and his wife got to open their gifts. We had some of them in a specific order. They were thoroughly confused! They didn't understand a lot of the gifts...things like lawn chairs and the beach chair covers...We photoshopped a picture of them from their honeymoon and put them into a pic on Castaway Cay. My brother knew right away that something was up. My sis-in-law...I don't think she realized that we had photoshopped the pic at first. After awhile, my brother asked where we were sending them. :rotfl: They had to open various presents and had to collect these skeleton keys in order to open the final box. My mom did a bunch of message in a bottle things that gave them clues along the way. Once they got to the last package, they fished through the skeleton keys until they found the one to unlock the "treasure". They were so excited!! :yay:

And then I told them that they were cruising with me and Matthew. :rolleyes1

And then I told them about you guys...:lmao:

They are excited though! I tried to tell them a little about the cruise and what to expect...i'll need to break them in slowly...:rotfl2:

But here's the kicker...

My sister in law is PREGNANT!!!! :scared1:

Don't get me wrong...this is a happy thing, but man are we stressing. We've checked and DCL won't let anyone cruise who has hit 26 weeks. We're waiting for her first official doctor's appointment to find out her due date. We've done the math, based on her timing and stuff, and we think she'll just barely make it. I've figured that she'll be 22-24 weeks at the time of the cruise. So we'll see...

So what did you guys get????

Soooo, when's the Dr.'s appt? When will we know if they're coming???

So what did you guys get????

Wow! That was quite a day. We had nothing to that level.

We did get Wii Dance Dance Revolution. I felt like I just left aerobics class. I have to drive 5 1/2 hours tomorrow and I'm pretty sore. I may have to make a couple extra stops to get out and stretch my legs.

I believe her appointment is within the next 2-3 weeks.

Hey Brandie,
How cool that you surprised them with the cruise! What an amazing gift- somehow I missed that you were doing that! Is it a special occasion for them?

DH did awesome this year!
I got the disney crocs- brown with pink lining! I have to say I do not like regular crocs, they give me blisters with how they rub the top of my foot, but the lined ones are wonderful!
I also got 3 pieces of Dept 56 disney village pieces- my first, I just love them! :cool1:
Some cute mickey head earings. Ahhh, he just knows me so well. The great thing is that although I cannot get him to listen to the podcasts- silly man, he loves it just as much. Got him a Mickey through the years watch that we saw in August that he wanted. He also wears his little mickey head stud earring to work. Luckily his boss is a DVC member too!
A match made in heaven we are.
Of course I am leaving him home in May as he does not appreciate the dis stuff. Just cannot get him into the boards- oh well.
It willl be an awesome girls vaca with my fellow disers!

Merry Christmas everyone! :santa:

Brandie- glad the surprise went so well, they must be so excited! and to cruise with all of us, well that's just icing on the cake......okay, it might be a little scary....:confused3 :rotfl: hopefully she makes the cutoff with the pregnancy.

MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!!!!:santa:

Tracy, I need your help. I know with other cruise lines, you can NOT bring alcohol onboard, BUT, I understand that you can with Disney Cruise Line.

I have bet my father BIG $$$$ that you can on Disney. Tell me I'm right, please.

I am not Tracy but we took alcohol onboard in my daughters back pack on Dec. 18th with no problems. :)

My parents cruise A LOT! Especially with Princess Cruise line. I know alcohol is conficated when you walk on those ships. I need to prove to them I am right. I was so frustrated last night trying to convince them I am right and it is NOT taken away.

Dr. Phil would call me a right fighter... LOL

Unless they missed it but I doubt it since it went in the scanner they didn't say a word when she took it on DCL.

You are permitted to bring alcohol onboard with Disney, provided it is in your carry on only. You cannot check the alcohol in your luggage.

I will warn you though, there is a sign as you are entering the port that says "No alcohol or firearms allowed". I have questioned this numerous times and the answer is always the same. You can carry on what you want.

With other cruise lines, if they find it, it will be confiscated. If you buy liquor in port, it will be held until you get off the ship at the end of the cruise. Not true with Disney.

My parents decided to surprise them with the cruise for Christmas. They are always the ones stuck at home when mom and dad go on vacation and they are left tending to their dogs. So...to thank them for all they have done, they are sending them on an honest to goodness REAL vacation! :) We've been in on the secret for months. We all themed our gifts for them around the cruise...

I certainly hope that she makes the cut off!!

We cruised Princess last year and did manage to smuggle a bit of booze on board. Shhhhh...LOL! We bought some vodka and rum in plastic bottles and wrapped them up in towels and t-shirts and put them in our checked bags. It wasn't taken...and we were able to spike our drinks...lol. And when we came back on board after St. Maarten, I had some bottles of various flavored rums in my bag and just walked right on in. Everyone was heading for the tables where they collect your booze...or the elevators. I walked right to the stairs...:rotfl: I was very bad...:lmao:

Now we had our booze that we purchased on St. Thomas delivered to the ship so that was not delivered to us until the last night of the cruise.

We will make our booze run on Saturday on our way to the Dolphin. We won't buy a lot...it's only a 4 day cruise, after all...and we plan to carry it on.

Thank you! I sent your answer to my Dad.

I don't plan on buying a lot either, just 2 or 3 bottles and a 12 pack of Land Shark for hubby.

I really wanna go on the podcast cruise, but my partner can't go, and I can't pay for a stateroom all to myself. Seeing as the "deadline" for the group pricing is coming up, I was wondering if anyone needed a roommate?

I hope you find someone to go with you...we'll keep our fingers crossed for ya! :thumbsup2

Hi columnwest,

I am booked as a solo on the cruise. I would be willing to share my room. If you are interested just PM me.

I was kinda in the same boat (no pun intended).

*sighs*

well, me and my gf are booked on the cruise, but it is starting to look like maybe we are going to have to cancel :( her younger brother has been staying with us for a few months now, and mixed with moving, some medical bills, etc., im just not sure its going to be in the budget...seems like we are having unplugged bad luck- we missed the sign ups for the TSMM, now this...i guess we are just destined to always be listeners "outta the loop" :(
