Have you guys seen this yet?

The previously announced Pirate & Princess Parties for 2009 have been cancelled. Please call 407-WDISNEY for refund information.

Where did you see this Jaime? I checked the WDW site and they have no info on this. Trying to get official confirmation and the CMs know nothing about it being canceled.

Did you guys decide to stay at the POP post cruise? If so, I bet your husband is thrilled!! :lmao:

Right now we are because of the $500 giftcard promo...but if I get a pin code for free DDP or 40% off elsewhere we will be jumping ship a.s.a.p.!

We booked a car for the whole week - and I think we're paying $120 including all fees. We always rent a car when we go - we just like the freedom of doing whatever we want

Andrea, do you mind telling me what car company you booked through...that's lower than some of the other quotes I've been getting.

Hi Lisa - it's with Alamo, I booked it in October, my DH thought I was crazy, but I thought it was a pretty good deal so I booked it. You don't have to put any credit card hold on it, and can cancel any time so I figured I would just book it for now and see if something else comes along. I used the walmart contract code #430710 - I think it's an intermediate car, since it's the two of us we don't need a big car, it's $128 with all the taxes and fees. Sometimes when the date comes closer they also come out w/a coupon code that you can also apply to bring the price down even more

I have not started to look for a rental car. Here is a great thread with rental car codes. I like it because pretty much all the codes are in the same place. :thumbsup2

Wow! I first posted on this thread way back when we first booked...but I can only concentrate on one vacation at a time, so I am back!

However, it looks like there is a good possibility we won't be able to make it:eek: , unless DCL lets me on the ship 35 weeks pregnant! I am just getting into week 12, so we are holding on to our reservation, just in case.....but assuming all progresses well, we'll be stuck in Colorado, awaiting Merrick's little sibling! I, however, can honestly think of no better place to be 35 weeks pregnant, indulging in some amazing Palo food:guilty: So, although I am BUMMED (particularly after listening to the cruise podcast), we are jazzed that we are expecting another blessing into our family!

I am new to the cruise thread- but congrats to you and your family :)
We will just need to be sure Pete plans another podcast cruise for next year :cool1:

Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving!!
I am busy dragging out the Christmas decorations today-

Has anyone booked their rental car for cruise week yet? What kind of deals are you getting? We have decided to forget about transfers and just bite the bullet and drive. It will be such a quick three days at the parks after we return to port that we feel like having our own car will save us some precious time.

Kristen and I are not sure how we are going to handle this. we definately want to rent a car when we arrive on Sat. We originally were going to rent it, return it to the airport sunday and catch the bus to/from the port. When I mentioned this to Tracy she said to just drive to the port and return it there. We could then do a one way transport on the bus back to the airport for $35 each. So for $70 wouldnt it be cheaper to rent a car back to the airport on Thursday?
How is everyone handling this? I was also having difficulty finding a rental car agency with port canaveral drop off- I am sure I just have not looked enough -

Avis, Dollar, Hertz, Budget and Thrifty all have drop off locations near Port Canaveral with complementary shuttles to the port. They may be listed in Cocoa Beach, Port Canaveral or Cape Canaveral. They are all within a couple miles from the port and each other.

I suggest the transfers with DCL back to the airport if you are flying with the airlines that do onboard check in for your flights. If you do this, you will not have to pick up your luggage in the terminal, it will already be tagged for your home airport and sent to the airport in the morning. You will also get your boarding pass on the ship and not have to stand in any lines at all at the airport before security. To use this onboard check in, you must use DCL transfers which are $35 per person one way from the port to the airport. For two people, you may be able to find a car rental cheaper. For more than two, definitely the car rental is cheaper.

I got an economy car through Budget, from Friday-Sunday for $62.26, p/u @ MCO, d/o at port canaveral. I haven't booked a car/transfer for the ride back yet...depends on a few things yet.

Tracy, do you find one of these to be better to deal with than others? Also, do you know off-hand if they have drop-off charges on one way rentals?

I think we won't be ready for a cruise for awhile, unless it is a 7 nighter (hint, hint, Pete!!!). By the time we got into a groove cruising with Merrick on our 5night, poof, it was over! We do have plans already for a 2010 WDW trip (if I can hold out that long.....), with grandparents in tow for helping out. I still can't convince my dad to cruise....but if I can, we are there!!!

Dollar & Thrifty sometimes have drop-off charges, but sometimes even with the drop off charge they are cheaper. I usually use Avis or Budget. I am using Avis on Wednesday because their price was lower.

Congratulations Jill! I'm so sorry I won't be able to see all of you in May, it was so great meeting Merrick last September.

Is there anything about a Disney Cruise that Tracy doesn't know? I was thinking about the woman they talked about in the Podcast who went to the hospital after getting upset with the Disney Cruise Line. Too bad she didn't use Dreams Unlimited Travel. Tracy could have skated her right through the preparations and saved her a big hospital bill. :cheer2:

Thankyou Tracy for clearing that up! I was going to email you about this- but now I am set to start surfing for deals! I will definately go with the transfer on the way back to the airport to save the hassle of dealing with check in and baggage.
We are also doing a 7night WC cruise in August with the whole family and some friends (10 of us altogether) for that cruise we are for sure doing our own transfers as it will be much cheaper- from what I have researched.

Thanks again- you are a wealth of information!
