Your passports will be good for 10 years (5 years for the kids). You may very well get to use them in the future. Maybe another cruise. :)

I was kidding. I KNOW I'll use it again, but I'm thinking January will be a good 2nd time. I love my friends to death, but we plan something, and then they back out. So, I'm hoping they follow through with it. The guy is terrified to fly, which just strikes me as funny, because he's big and tough and doesn't take well to people being weak at anything.

Mine took exactly one week!:cool1: My grandmother went with me and hers took longer. She is from Puerto Rico and the passport people did not except the birth certificate she had ordered. They said it was a birth record. They gave her some options of what she could send. Mind you she is 82. Here were the options I can remember. 1 Have some one who was there at your birth send a notarized statement saying you are who you say you are, 2 send a report card from school, 3 send church records of your baptism.
My grandmother found her 3rd grade report card! :worship: :worship: She also found her passport from 1944 and a copy of her marriage license. She received her passport 1 week after she mailed all that stuff off. They did mail it all back in one envelope. :goodvibes

Well, I filled all three forms out in blue ink. I looked and looked and looked all over the application for a place where it said what color - no where. Then, I forgot my checkbook. I actually didn't forget it. I just thought I could use a debit card. We are leaving town tomorrow at 7 and won't be back until next week on Wednesday. SOMETIMES, there are no perks to living in small town Iowa. The clerk, that we don't even know, is going to stop at DH's store and pick up a check so it will go out tomorrow. Super nice of her. I think we will have a breakfast treat ready for her when she stops by.

I missed you guys today. I've had just a horrible day.

I took the day off to spend the day at neurological testing with both of my elderly parents - testing for dementia/Alzheimer's/other problems. Sometimes I really wish I weren't an only child.:guilty: (I think I've mentioned a couple of times that my parents were having some health problems.)

I'm hoping, if nothing else, I'll get some medical back-up for my opinion that it's time for them to think about assisted living, an idea they are both vehemently against.

Sorry to whine. On with the cruise talk! I can't begin to tell you how much my husband and I need this vacation.

I'm sorry to hear that Dodie! I'm afraid my Grandfather is starting to experience some dementia himself. It's not easy. :sad2:

Hang in there Dodie.... :grouphug:

Lets keep quoting this until we make lots of money :)

BTW, we already have nearly 100 bucks, not bad for a few hours.

Agreed! I'm going to post the webpage over on Facebook.

I would love this if you can convince him to part with some money this would be great. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
I also wanted to let you guys know it has been a very busy couple of days here.
I am going to spend the afternoon trying to catch up.
Hopefully this will take my worries away.
DH is having surgery today and I am waiting on a call from the hospital.
Hopefully with good news that I can come a get him. :)
Hospital called I can go get DH now.
Talk to you when I get back. :)

How's John?

Is it the eco-tour or just free time on a jet ski?
eco-tour. :thumbsup2

That sounds odd.

I'm applying for mine next week. The county clerk where I was born is open late on Wednesdays so I will go after work to get my certified copy of my birth certificate and Thursday to the Post Office.

I should still have it in enough time, right?

It took exactly 2 weeks for ours to arrive. :thumbsup2

You said someplace in the Caribbean. Barbados and Antigua are very nice. I have not been to Aruba but a lot of people like it there. Grand Turk looks beautiful. From what I've seen on the travel channel the water looks stunning.

I am an only too, Dodie. I'm not looking forward to it either and I know it's coming. Fortunately for ME, my parents are next door to me. Fortunately for THEM (;)), they have that long-term health care where they come into your home and assist with care. Right now my parents are healthy and active and in their early to mid 60's.

I hope you get them (happily) settled soon.

I never get tired of seeing those boats, er, ships.

Fuel Supplement Information

Hey everyone, I have been getting a lot of inquiries about fuel supplement charges. So I wanted to give you guys some information about this. It has been a hot topic this week on the cruise forums.

The majority of you did not pay a fuel supplement. In general, if your reservation number has a GRP number after the reservation number, you did not pay a fuel supplement. If you initially booked your reservation before May 27, 2008 or after December 1, 2008, you do not have a fuel supplement. If you were one of the very few who did get charged a fuel supplement, we will know next Thursday if the fuel supplement will be required for our cruise. If it is not, those few of you who did pay, will receive a fully refundable onboard credit in the amount of the fuel supplement. This means if you do not spend the onboard credit, you will receive a refund.

Hope this helps.

We had parent teacher conferences tonight. I love my DD, but the poor child is my daughter. She is soooo very good, (yes, she is like me). Her teachers love her. She is nice and polite. She is timid and shy (yes, like me). But she is soooo mouthy to me. She has told me that she really doesn't care about school. She is happy with whatever grade she gets. She's getting straight A's, and the teachers say that she is great. Now why would she want to give me the impression that she hates school???

Thanks, Tracy. I just looked. I can't believe that I made my reservation for this cruise in January of 2008.

Oh Dodie- :grouphug: to you. I was an only child as well, lost both my parents last year after both being quite sick. Dad on dialysis, mom with ovarian cancer. It is so physically and emotionally draining- just having to make all those decisions by yourself is so difficult.
Dont ever feel like you are whining, Vent all you want here, and keep thinking about that cruise, I know it helps with my grief.

Just had to share- going into day 5 of weight watchers for the cruise and feeling great! Usually day 4 or so is where I cave- but really not feeling like that at all! 2lbs down!! :cool1: I may just fit in my bathing suit without feeling like a stuffed sausage afterall!
