Completely OT but I have had an interesting day so far.
I got called out of my training course, told to go home and get uniform, and report to the Fire Hall and speak with the Deputy.

After freaking out for the 45-60 minutes it took me to get uniform and get to the Fire Hall...I was completely freaked out thinking I was in big trouble. Nope, they "severed" the employment of one of our part time personnel, after she had put in 2 hours already today.

Dang. I don't know the details, but wow. While there had been a couple of small issues, people don't get let go from here often.

I need to get my butt in gear today...supposed to be cleaning the house, but i've ended up taking an extra long lunch instead...

I did manage to clear off the table of all of my craft related stuff though...but then I sat down for lunch...I hate cleaning...but i've got to have this place spotless for my dad. He'll be here...unattended...while we're in Florida. Heaven only knows what he'll get himself into! Last time he puppy-sat for us, he tried to clean out our garage...

Okay, I know it is too early to panic since they don't have the test result yet but this article is giving me real concern.

Second SC school closes amid flu-like illness

MAULDIN, S.C. — A South Carolina high school has closed after students returned from a band trip to Walt Disney World in Florida with flu-like symptoms.

Greenville County School District spokesman Oby (OH-be) Lyles says officials decided to close Mauldin High School on Thursday as a precaution after 18 of 70 students returning from the trip reported illnesses. Lyles says the district is waiting for test results from state health officials.
A Department of Health and Environmental Control spokesman said he could not immediately comment on the school closing.

DHEC has identified 17 "probable" cases of swine flu, all linked to students at a private school in Newberry who had been in Mexico in early April. The school has been closed this week.

DHEC is investigating dozens of "suspected" cases of swine flu.
