I am planning a trip for Dec 2011, YES, I know... over a year from now, but I need something to plan! :lmao: Anywho, I am looking for suggestions for my DD's first meal at Disney. I am looking for dinner ideas. My other children like Chef Mickey's, but is there something else that would be better for her first experience? Thanks!:yay:

I think the Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom would be a good choice. Or 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. Both have characters and decent food. And while I do not personally care for the food there, Hollywood and Vine at DHS has a character meal that would fit well with her age bracket.

I guess it really comes down to what characaters you think she would enjoy more and where you want to have the meal, at a resort or at a park.

What about the castle? We're taking DD there for lunch to celebrate her 4th birthday.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I think right now I have the short list:

1900 Park Fare
Chef Mickey's
Crystal Palace

Now comes the decision to go into a park that first night or not. I am glad I have 15 months to plan! :rotfl:

When my niece was 3, just 2 months shy of 4, we took her to the Princess Norway breakfast and she was the happiest little thing you ever saw and it made the entire trip.

I would personally wait until you see what characters she's into when it's time to make your reservations. If she loves princesses, then CRT, Akershus or 1900 Park Fare might be the best bet. If she loves Pooh, then CP. If she loves Mickey then Chef Mickey's, etc.

we're also bringing our DD4 for the first time in less than 2 weeks! Our first Disney meal is dinner, so we chose 1900 PF. we can't do MK on our first night since it's a MNSSHP night, so we knew we wanted a Princess meal for her first Disney meal. We've never eaten there, but cannot wait!!!! :cool1:

I'd pick some kind of character meal for sure.....if she loves Princesses, definitely do 1900 PF or Akershus ( or CRT). But you can't beat Crystal Palace and all the Pooh characters....it's my personal fav!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone! :thumbsup2 I think we will wait and see if she favors a specific set of characters as we get closer, but the more I read about 1900 park fare it seems that will be the best option for dinner with my daughter, and the rest of my family. The older two will enjoy interacting with the step mother and sisters! :goodvibes We may just have to watch Cinderella more often! :lmao:

We leave in 44 days and decided to take dd4 to chef mickeys on our first night. We will be doing CRT, crystal palace and 1900 park faire throughout our trip, but wanted the fab 5 for her 1st night...

I'm not counting the resort meals as "Disney meals" for our trip. So, while WCC and Boma will be the first two TS meals of the trip, Akershus is going to be the first park meal. If I'm going to count the resorts, I figure I should count the CS meals as well, which would make Cosmic Ray's or Pecos Bill her first Disney meal.

I love Chef Mickey's as well, and have always enjoyed their food. Its such a toss up and I am sure it won't matter one bit to her which one we do first... but I really want that first night to be magical and to set up the first day, the next morning, going to Magic Kingdom. I am sure I will go back and forth for the next 15 months on which one to do first. :lmao: That's the joy of booking so early... give me LOTS of time to plan.:thumbsup2

I really think you ought to do CRT! The castle is such an icon of WDW and most little girls love princesses, especially Cinderella.

Ah, this makes my heart so happy! :)

Our DDs loved 1900 Park Fare. The step sisters are a riot, and one DD fell totally in love with Prince Charming ("Mummy...prince charming is soooooo charming"). It was adorable.

We've never eaten in the castle (boys...), but with a girl that age - that is definitely where I'd go!! :goodvibes

I wouldn't recommend starting off with character dining - it might freak her out. Ease in to that sort of thing.

All of the table service restaurants have the same children's menu. Pick a place you like or a place where you think she might like something off of the main menu.

Four-year-olds are fickle - the meal may never happen. Don't put too much pressure on the event.
