First DVC stay at Vero

I was pleasantly surprised to snag the last studio at Vero Beach for a week in June yesterday. It was the 7 month window, so that's why we were surprised(Didn't call day-by-day). I don't see much on these boards about Vero, so I'm just asking for some info from owners and others who have stayed there. I don't really have any specific questions, except for restaurant info, how close to a grocery store, and general area "tourist-type" info inquiries. Oh, and by the way - Happy Thanksgiving!

Vero is awesome.

Compared to wdw its very relaxing. Most of the stores are on us 1 (vero I do believe is on A1A. Publix is about 7 minutes away. I do believe there is a small 'corner' store around the corner.


There isn't a whole lot of stuff, right in the immediate area, the mall is 20 minutes away, no big deal.

You can eat on property or there are restaurants around, they range from BK to sit-down chains, to local joints, again most everything is on US1.

I've been there twice (never in June so there may be more things happening) and it is reealllllly nice.

Good for you. We're starting our DBD reserving at this very moment (DW is the ressi mgr on the phone now). We're looking for either 3 ovir or 1 ovir and a 2 bdrm. Here is some info on the surrounding area.

5 minutes away is Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge and a wildlife education center. Just a few minutes further up the road is Sebastian Inlet State Park were the Indian River meets the ocean. There are many good fishing spots around the inlet, and there are river excursions where you can see dolphins, manatee, and tons of other types of wildlife. About an hour north is Port Canaveral, (where the Magic and Wonder dock), the Kennedy Space Center visitor complex, and Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge with walking and driving tours. 20 minutes south is McKee Botanical Garden (18 acres) with some REALLY cool vegetation and trees. 30 minutes south in Fort Piece is the Manatee Observation and Education Center.

Today went fine... got the 2 bdrm and Inn room. Sounds like we're going to be ok for the rest. Will update when we're done.
