We set our alarm for 4:15am. Bruce decides he wants another fifteen minutes in bed while I washed my hair and did my make up. I woke Casey up and got her dressed whilst Bruce was getting ready. I came down stairs and started finishing the packing that we could not do until the morning. Bruce started to load the car up and I got the boys ready. It was 5:15am and we left our house for an hours drive to Dover.

On the way down, we realized we did not take the boys raincoats or the pram rain cover  it was too late to go back so we said we would buy some ponchos.

We arrived at Dover at 06:05 and went straight through passport control and parked up at lane 5. While we were waiting Bruce and I decided, it would be best if we put on our light strips. The only problem was the directions were so vague and our lights have no design on so we were stumped and could not work out the strips. They started to load the cars so we thought we would put them on at the campsite.

We left Dover 06:45. Ten minutes early. The crossing was quick and smooth for a speed cat. We were coming into Boulogne Harbour so we decided we would take the kids out onto the deck. They absolutely loved it. Callum thought it would be a good idea to throw his dummy into the channel, which meant we only had one dummy left

We started our journey at 09:15 French time to Jablines Paris. We had no problems driving down to the campsite. We arrived at 12:55 as we had a couple of stops on the way down. We could not check in until 14:00 as the reception was closed :sad2: we decided to have lunch that I made for us the night before. As soon as we checked in, we found our pitch. The pitch was quite muddy and uneven. We still managed to put up the tent without any problems. As soon as we unpacked the car, we headed out to Disneyland Paris.

We got lost on the way to Disneyland as we missed our turning. We managed to find some signs eventually and we were on our way again. We arrived at DLP at 17:15, bought some tickets, and headed straight for the turnstiles. As soon as we came out onto Main Street, it started to rain heavily. We thought ok we will put our ponchos on and Casey's raincoat on which we packed and buy the boys some ponchos. Only problem was we forgot them and left them all in the car :furious: I could not believe it. We were so eager to get here that we forgot them. We did not fancy the mile walk back to the car. Luckily, it only rained for about 10 minutes.

Even though the walk was certainly too long, we were very impressed with the park. Nearly as magical as WDW's Magic Kingdom. Everything was very well presented, castle was much larger than we thought, it was fairly busy, but not heaving. So we grabbed a park map and got set for our first stop.

We headed over to the passport office and sorted out our passes. Casey was hungry we decided we would have dinner at Lucky Nugget Saloon. The atmosphere was ok a little quiet, as the band was not playing. The characters were Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, King Lui, Giepetto, Baloo the kids loved all the attention. The food was average. Main dinner was a little cold. It was a buffet Bruce only had a little dinner and filled up on dessert. He had crepes, brownies, cheesecake and lollies. I had chicken fajitas, chips, ribs and some other bits I did not eat all of it. The kids had chips and nuggets. After the Lucky Nugget, we went on Phantom Manor and it’s a small world.

We were up so early in the morning we decided we would go back to the tent and have a good nights sleep and get up early in the morning.

Opposite our tent was a covered area that people would go to have dinner or just to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. At 23:00, a couple of French teenagers were sitting there drinking, laughing chatting rather loudly. It went on until 01:30 until I had enough it was keeping dh and myself awake that I got up and said we are trying to sleep. 10 minutes later they went back to there tent. Ahh bliss I could sleep.

I'm impressed camping with toddlers must be quite hard work !

Can't wait to hear more but am worried about the lost dummy . Hope it doesn't spell trouble later in the holiday.

Hi

It was hard at times camping with the toddlers, but luckily being nr disney we were only there for breakfast and then as soon as we got back it was bed time. I think it would be hard if we had to spend more time at the tent.

I will let you know what happens with the dummy :teeth:

Long first day! I hope the French teenagers dont bother you all holiday :teeth:

French teenagers in DLP, Brazilian tour groups in WDW - is nowhere safe?!

Glad you had a good first day and that your problems were only minor ones. Looking forward to reading more.

Sara. :)

Great start to your trip report.
Enjoying hearing about a camping trip since I've always fancied doing this.
Surprised about the campsite allowing the teenagers to behave like this as most of the sites we have stayed in mobile homes have a quiet policy after 11pm :thumbsup2

Hi

I will post next one tonight when the kids are in bed. Luckily though we only had problems that night. I dont know if they had a policy or not, but we said if it happened again the next night then we would complain. We did not need to luckily :teeth:

Excellent start ~ Can't wait to read more.

Geek that I am this intrigues me.... is this a difference in headlamp requirements in the UK vs the continent?

World traveller that I am, I'm on airplanes every 2 weeks or so with no issues. It's those speed cats that do me in - I remember a Dover - Boulonge trip which seemed never ending....

I would rather go on a plane than a ferry, but I was pleasently surprised. I would definately use them again.

:thumbsup2 I've never felt that awful feeling of nausea on a plane, but watching that little blip on the screen never get nearer to Boulogne was torture.... I had the same experience on a fast cat here too.

My sister is a big fan of the Eurostar - I'm highly claustrophobic so I think that's out too. Good thing that I do well on planes! :teeth:
