First Disneyland Visit - Do We Need FPs?

My husband set up his own MDX account on his phone app. Would it be better for him to delete it and simply use My my MDX account that our Disney World trip and FP+ are on? Not certain how all this works.

You can use the same MDX account login on the Disneyland App and you can both have accounts set up and have your tickets in both accounts.

Just to be clear, you need to use the DISNEYLAND App (it's simply called Disneyland in the Google Play store) as the WDW apps won't work for DLR nor will you need your Magic Bands.

DLR still uses good 'ol fashioned paper fastpasses. MAXPASS is an enhancement that is available through the DISNEYLAND App, and can be purchased each day should you feel you need it (it is currently $10 per person per day). It allows you to reserve Fastpasses at DLR and CA from either park or even your hotel (or wherever you may be) for the day you purchase it. We used it for the first time this year and it was fantastic, IMO much better than FP+.

An additional perk is the inclusion of Photopass and Ride photos FREE for each day purchased. You can read more about it here.

The great things about DLR FP is that you aren't limited to three (to start), there is no tiering, and every ride has FP available every day you go (they may run out as the day progresses, but every ride has a full contingent of FPs available to start each day with).

And just for more info, the downsides to MP are that it is only for use at 10 places at DL (unlike the 25 at MK) and that you cannot choose from a selection of available times, you have to take the time that appears. Also, make sure you enter the park before you try to get your first FP.

Regardless of whether you purchase MaxPass or not, I highly recommend that you download the official Disneyland App and link your tickets. That way, if you do get a FP, you can use the App to scan into the FP line (instead of using your physical ticket), check the time of your FP, and cancel the FP if needed. You will need your physical ticket to get the FP in first place (from the FP machines).

The TOTAL number of Fastpass attractions, though, is closer to 20 when you include California Adventure. Another HUGE difference is that you can really take advantage of hopping between parks as they are literally a minute or two apart and you can reserve a ride in a park different from the one you are in.

The number of locations may be a downside, but not being able to pick a time slot is a major positive, as you can do a lot with little to no planning, so much nicer than planning at 60 days out.
