Hello, we are taking our first trip to disney in may...I was thinking about renting points. I have a few questions if someone wouldn't mind helping

I understand how it worls mostly, but on the ad pages why is there a resort listed, is it less points if you stay at that resort, or can you only stay at that resort?

I've searched for this info but I guess I'm looking in the wrong places....if there is a newbie info page can someone please link me

thanks!

I believe that the resort is listed to give you an idea of when they can make your reservation for. The can make a reservation at their home resort 11 months in advance. The can make a reservation at another resort at 7 months. So in other words, If you are looking to make a reservation at approximately a year in advance, it would be a good idea to find someone who has the resort you prefer as their home resort. If you are within the 7 month time frame, the home resort probably doesn't matter. I hope that helps.

Are you talking about the rent/trade board or the DVC resale site?

Point owners can reserve at their home resort 11 months in advance or at another DVC resort 7 months in advance.

Lets say someone has 200 BWV 2008 points with April UY for $12/pt. This means that someone has 200 points that can be used from 4/1/2008 - 3/31/2009.

This means that the renter can rent at any DVC resort with Availability for dates between now and October, but can reserve only at BWV for stays between October and the end of February of 2009.

Let's say you would like to stay for 1 week in a BCV 1 bedroom in January for 200 points, but find someone with 200 BWV points. That person, if willing, would reserve your 1 week at BWV in a preferrred/Bwlk View in January for 200 points, and then would be able to change your reservation at the 7 month mark for BCV.

If you want to do a rental within the 7 month period, it doesn't matter where the points are owned.

The number of points you need for a particular vacation will be listed on the points charts in the top banner for this board.

thanks so much!! so rental points that expire soon do not really need to list their home resort...right?

You don't need to worry about expiration. Only the member does. The points are worthless to you unless you are a member and can make a reservation with them. If you are looking to purchase a reservation from a member who makes it with their points for May 08, you need to contact a member immediately. You may be too late for your choice and may need to go with what is still available.
