My family and I will be going on our first Disney cruise in November. My wife and I have cruised before but it'll be a first with our children DD 7 and DS 3. My wife is a little worried that our son, who is part tazmanian devil, will try to climb the rail and go for a swim. I've told her that Disney cruises have seen millions of kids so they probably have this covered but she's still scared about it. Is there plexiglass over the rails or anything to keep kids from climbing? Also, when we first board I want to make sure I get the tickets to the meet and greets so are the ones I need: Princess gathering, Anna and Elsa, gingerbread house building?

Yes, there is plexiglass covering the rails on the inside, so nothing there to climb on. There are 2 chairs and a small table on the verandah, so not sure if that will be a problem for you. Just make sure the kids are never out there alone. There is a lock up high on the sliding door to the verandah. Not sure about the tickets. We have not cruised since they started this, but will be cruising again in Oct.

Last week the only ticketed events were the Princesses and Anna/Elsa. Look on your navigator the first day and there will be information about what else might be available.

The tickets are given out from the port excursion desk around 12 noon on the day you get on the ship. On our cruise the tickets were for the princess gathering, Ana and Elsa and Disney channel characters (doc McStuffins).

No worries your Tasmanian devil is going to love running down the hallways and want to be in the kids club where the action is or on the water slide in the Mickey Pool or Nemo's Reef! He is going to have so much occupying and keeping him interested he won't notice the rails. I didn't know you get tickets to meet and greets....? Hmmm - We just lined up. Everything is listed in the Navigator.
Your daughter is going to be in Princess Heaven!! Make sure you bring her costumes and take her to Bibbiddy Bobbidy Boutique....I'm so jealous I only have boys because I would so love to do it!!!
Have fun and tell Momma Bear to breathe it's going to be fantastic!
Can't wait to hear!

The door to the balcony has a lock that even defeats adults sometimes. It's not easy. Yes there is plexiglas. And the balconies are HIGH. I'm 5'4" and the railings are well above my waist.

I can attest to that. Sometimes it takes me several attempts to get it right. Then you have to haul the door open - they're heavy and sort of "vacuum sealed" so it takes some muscle. And the lock is located above the head of the normal adult.
