First Day.....

When we first started going we used to do Sea World as the guide books said it let you in gently - these days it's just as tiring as DIsney and a full day.

Last trip we went to the FL mall on the first day after a trip to publix in the morning.

This trip we're sending the family to TL and then onto the FL mall while me and DH2B go meet our wedding co-ordinator and pick up our wedding licence :0)

It always has to be MGM. We love ToT and the kids love RnR. We leave MK till last as it is a park that none of us really enjoy,

MK & we must go across on the ferry boat! The one time that we used the monorail the holiday was a nightmare but that may have been my Sister!!
We're the same as most others, don't feel like we are on holiday until we reach MK.
SD :paw:

Magic Kingdom by ferry, seeing the castle, I know I am really THERE then, its become a tradition to have a pic taken at the frount of the boat with the castle behind, I have 18 trips with that same pose from 18 different trips.

Has to be EPCOT - get there early and straight to spaceship earth TT and sorin.
Then off round the world showcase - its not a proper start without EPCOT as my first morning!

This year we decided not to do a park on the first day, we had a lie in, late breakfast, went and played golf, had lunch, chilled out by the pool in the afternoon and then took advantage of the magic hours and went to MGM until 11pm.

hi miffy
when we were there last year we had a 8am character breakfast at crystal palace and then spent the rest of the day at MK  because like you i am not at disney untill i have been to MK :)

We seem to go against the trend and spend the first couple of days chillin' swimming and shopping. We are luck enough to go for a month so don't need to get into park mode right away. When we do visit a park it's MK first - I love walking up main street

Got to get to MK for the opening ceremony, thats when my holiday REALLY begins :goodvibes
Oh, I got my tickets through today, even more excited now, but just don't know how to pass the next two weeks quickly :confused3

OH my Jakki, that makes me terrible! My last 2 trips were for 3 weeks and nearly 4 weeks - both this year - and I still had to get to MK on day one!

MK is first...but not on the morning after arrival...unless we come in very late, we try to get to the MK on the same day of arrival...at least for an hour or two...
as another poster said, then we've really arrived...

normally we also go to the MK on the morning after arrival, but this year, because of EMH, we headed to MGM......not a good idea though, considering it's my least favorite of the parks....not that i don't like it....i love it....just 4th best....

In june 2004 our first day was spent at Seaworld as it was close to I-DRIVE and where we was staying.

November 2005 we plan to go to Magic Kingdom but to take in the site more than too many rides. We are staying on site this time.

Well as we're all wide awake by 5:00 AM it's normally Animal Kingdom as that usually opens first to off-site guests.

Afternoon of the first full day is normally at Wal-Mart to stock up on groceries (big saving on many items over neighborhood supermarkets) then the pool.

Evening is usually Downtown Disney for a copule of hours then an early night as we're all falling asleep by 8:00 PM.

We always go to Epcot mainly because it was the first one we ever did and it's traditional now. We are always there for the rope drop then it's a quick dash to Mission Space to get the 'sicky' ride out of the way then a couple of goes on Test Track before it gets too busy. Although after doing Soaring a couple of times this year (it's fab) we have a bit of a dilemma for our next trip of which to do first. Then I love going to England in the afternoon to see how much they are charging for a bag of chocolate buttons this time and dinner in Mexico (my favourite part of Epcot)

Lots of votes for MK but I am going to be totally different :)

Our first day always begins with a trip to the Animal Kingdom with Breakfast at Donalds...yum! :teeth:

The reason for this is that it was the way DW and I started our first trip together in 2000 when we went for our wedding and since then it has become a sort of tradition.

After this we generally head back to the hotel for a mooch around and a swim in the pool before heading out in the evening for dinner and to another park.

We are the same and UKPhil and AlanUK as we go to Animal Kingdom. When Animal Kingdom first opened it used to be the first park to open at a really early time (apparently because the animals woke up early). Because we are always up early the first few days due to jet lag it had to be animal kingdom. It seems to open later now but it has now become one of those rituals we have to do. (DH says it is the worse park and likes to save the best to last)

This was a big problem when we were in WDW in May as we were with friends (14 in all!!!) who had never been to WDW before but one was an Arsenal fan and our first day was the day of the Arsenal V Man U cup final.

There was no way we were not visiting a park (and had to be Animal Kingdom!) on our first day. We ended up arguing a bit but all found each other by the tree of life by lunctime. Sean was happy as Arsenal won so it worked out eventually.

We even had made a t-shirt up for him with Iron on transfers with his photo on with different scores which we ironed on in the hotel room when we knew the score. He seemed pleased but never wore the shirt. I wonder why???

It's lovely to hear all the different ways you spend the first day!

It's interesting that there are so many different ways to do it!

The past couple of times it has been SW first because I think its a good park to ease you in, no racing from attraction to attraction . This is followed by an evening at DTD just to get the autograph books and be on disney property.
This time we are staying on property so it will probably be AK first as I try to order the park from least exciting to most for the kids, so they won't be dissapointed in anything. A meal at Chef Mickeys at the end of the first day is always really cool too so you get the most important autographs at the front of your book. ;)
