OK you've arrived in Florida and done whatever it is you do on your first evening there.

You wake up next morning (hopefully not too bright and early ;) ) and what do you do???

A park? Which one?

A relaxing day?

Shopping? Where?

For us we always go to Magic Kingdom. We even do this if the guidebooks say it's busy and best avoided on that day ;) Why? Because until I have walked up under the station and into Main Street I don't feel I have properly arrived. That's where the magic is, for my family :) Though MK is not our favourite park ;)

What do you do???

In the past it has always ben MK but last time we went to Epcot - maybe bcause we were staying at BCV.

Every visit is different for us......this year we did shopping and mini-golf. We were 3 days in Orlando before we set foot in a park!
We like to take things easy on the first day, - but you can be assured that shopping will always play a part of our first day! :)

It has to be the Disney Studios for a fix of ToT and R'n'R, then back to the hotel for a rest or maybe some grocery shopping then off to EPCOT for Illuminations :Pinkbounc

Claire ;)

Both times we have been our first day has been spent at Sea World, probably because it is not too far from the I Drive and it is DH's favourite park so a good way to get him into the holiday mood.

For me it has to be the Magic Kingdom, doesnt feel like Im really in Disney until I have seen the castle. Plus the rides arent as scary there as in the other parks so its an easy way to ease myself back into it all!

We planned a quiet first day this year, particularly as we had decided not to do any parks on a weekend.

Anyway, while I was taking a shower, my dbf was watching the holiday channel and decided he couldn't wait to go to Islands of Adventure.

It was really quiet and we had a great day.

My first Disney park is always MK. That's where the magic is!

Normally we would go to Magic Kingdom or Universal - it does sort of depend on our young boy.
He is usually up very early the first couple of nights until his sleeping pattern adjusts.

MK and US - are his favourite parks.

It will be different next August as we are going for 3 weeks, the first night we are staying at the Hyatt Airport hotel (my wife is concerned that I am looking forward to that a bit too much) - then we are off to Fort Lauderdale for 3 or 4 nights before the final 2 and a bit weeks in a villa.

We like to get our Main Street, USA fix asap so MK tends to be our first port of call. Nothing brings a smile to the face (or a lump to the throat if I'm honest!) like passing through those gates! IMO that 'feeling' is why we return year after year... :wizard:

Our first day is always at Epcot, we get there for opening and I leg it to Soarin' for fastpasses (sometimes we get straight on if there is no line), we have brekkie in the Land (cookies, danishes & coissants - yummy !!) and then we ride Soarin with our FP's.

Next it's over to Mission:Space (where I'm relieved if my danishes have stayed put :rotfl: ), then we ride Test Track and get FP's for later on in the day.

A quick look around Mouse Gear, and then off around the World (starting in Mexico), hopefully it's getting towards lunch time and we have something to eat in China. We then leisurely walk around the countries and get some mega-expensive Cadbury's choccie in the UK.

Back on Test Track, check out the lines for Soarin', then head off for some retail therapy, swim or just chill for an hour or so.

That's my perfect start to the day in WDW :)

We always go to park on the first full day, this year it was Animal Kingdom but it depends on which parks are the quietest. However, because of our flight times this year we headed straight over to Sea World once we had checked into the hotel because it was only 5 minutes away.

First day is usually SW for us. This is because by 2pm I usually feel shattered and I find SW very relaxing. I LOVE SW and get to see my friend Shamu :) .

Have you been Karen. ;) . Shame on you if not!!!!

Let me consult my plans :)

First morning we are off the MK in the morning and then shooting off to Studios in the afternoon and Fantasmic in the evening :)

magic kingdom ! no contest :) i also don't care what the guidebooks say its mk for me no matter what :rotfl:

Hi :wave2:

We always go to MK. :) As some other people have said it just feels like you have arrived at Disney when you go to this park. :goodvibes

3 weeks and counting

Well normally for us , the first morning is usually spent at the Animal Kingdom, :dog2: but when we were there in August we changed our plans for the first time and went to MK first, :wizard: as you know Karen, we had some very important people to suprise ;) :rolleyes1

And what a great change is was :Pinkbounc

Sue

I have to be boring and agree with most of you, it has to be MK, its not disney til i get that lump in my throat from seeing the castle, I just cant believe that we are really there until I see :earseek: the castle, the rest of the holiday is planned like a military operation, taking all the crowd numbers into account, except the first one, its MK no question! :teeth:
