My girls went back today....a second grader and my baby started K! It is hard to believe - and of course, it is raining - no fun lugging all the supplies in.

I'm so anxious to see how both their days went.....and what homework they bring home! This is definitely harder on me than them.....!

Today was the first day here too. Our daughter is in 1st grade. She was excited to start today, but was not happy that she has to go to school for 10 whole days before we leave for our trip to WDW for her birthday.

Best wishes to all the kids that are starting school today and this week!

My kids go back Wednesday.
All my friends and Facebook friends are thrilled to see their kids go back.
Am I the only one sad? This summer was awesome and I will really miss them!

It's always a little sad for me when summer is over. I enjoy having the kids around, even though they aren't really around nearly as much as they used to be. :thumbsup2

I always take DS first day from school off from work & so does DH, it's a tradition we started in Pre-K. This year DS (7) starts 2nd grade ! Three BIG changes for DS: (1 & 2) His last school was a small pretty laid back Christian school where he was pulled out everyday (ESE) for 45 min , his new school big Catholic parochial school & he no longer needs ESE pull out time = new bigger school & no more ESE & (3) we've gradually reintroduced him over the summer to Catholic vs Christian churches & guess what I'm the nervous wreck :lmao: he is totally enjoying every moment !

He is so excited ! He was so happy this morning that he gets no more ESE & his class is on the 2nd floor with the big kids & he has more friends, 11 boys & 9 girls & he thinks his teacher is "wonderful". All that from Orientation night & non stop over the weekend. Kids are just so awesome & resilient & brave !

Thankfully my DH & I share our anxiety when DS's not around & are both sitting here waiting for 2:45 pm to see how his day went :cloud9:

DS18 started his first day of COLLEGE classes today, the twins have 2 more weeks before school starts.

It's kind of like sending him off to kindergarten. When he went to kindergarten it was really the first time he was away for that long of a time, every day, and you don't really know what they are doing all day. When he would go to friend's houses when he was little you pretty much knew what they were doing even if you were not there.

Today was my oldest's first day as a freshman in high school, and I am a little teary eyed too. I have homeschooled him for the last four years so my day feels so different without him. My dd11 had a dentist appointment right before lunch so we decided to stop and enjoy lunch out. It felt so odd not to have ds14 with us. I could have cried....I am not one bit worried about him - well maybe I am a little (this sudden appearance of girls is a little worrisome). Mostly, I am just feeling like the next four years are going to fly by...I am afraid to blink.

I will be a mess when they go off to college!! I can't bear to be away from them for long periods of time.

I'm so anxous to hear how it all went, this morning was such a blur - it was raining here and with everyone bringing in supplies and things it was quite chaotic.

Hope everyone elses kids had a great day!!

My son started two weeks ago today. I don't even know if he HAS classes because all he talks about is a GIRL...:surfweb:

Ahhh this thread just shows no matter the age, that first day of school can be tough on us parents. :goodvibes

Son started his Jr. year of college today. I just got a text, "Mom, love the house, great job, I can stop in between classes" We moved him out of student housing and rented a house for him and 2 friends he met in the dorms his freshman year. They are literally across the street from the Student Union.

DD starts middle school next week.
