:worried:     Put my little boy on the bus for his first day at middle school.   He looked so small and alone :guilty: .He is going to a special school for the academically advanced, so none of his elementary friends will be there and he's never ridden the bus before. I could always pop down to his local elementary school, but this new one is way across town and being middle school, not that in need of parent "volunteers" :rolleyes1 .Kindergarten wasn't half this hard. :guilty: :confused3 Anybody else feel this way today?

Not today but i will in about a week... my oldest ds is going to be in kindergarden and i've been worried and stressing over it 1/2 the summer. He's been in preschool the past 2 years but i was in and out of that school about 3 times a week at least helping out. I just hope that the public schools are as nice! Also his preschool was 1/2 day and kindgergarden is full day...
Just have keep telling my self that 2.5 weeks after he starts he gets a nice break to WDW! LOL

We just got back from WDW last night. Welcome back to reality -- I have a meeting to attend tonight for parents of kindergarteners, tomorrow DD will meet her teacher, and her first day of school is the day after that! She is our oldest and although she has attended a day care/preschool for quite some time now, I still feel that this is a huge leap for all of us. I was all set for her to ride the school bus, especially since she's friends with the 2nd grader next door and figured she could show my DD the ropes, but that little girl's family just moved to another school district without warning last week! Now I've got a lot of thinking to do...

I'll be bawling my eyes out on the 25th. My baby is going to Kindergarten. I can't even stand to think about!!

Not there yet but WILL be! I get a double-dose this year!

I have my oldest going off to Middle School (on the bus too, first time and it's way across town!) and then I have one entering Kindergarten!

And the worst part of the entire thing is I won't be able to see her off on the bus because I will be at the elementary school getting her 3rd grade brother to his teacher, etc... Since the first day always runs late and I wait until they go in (and help other little lost children on occassion get to the correct teacher), the bus will be here & gone before I get back!

Her dad will be here to see her off but it's NOT the same thing. Just the way it has to be.

I will be there in about 3 weeks...My little girl (our oldest) will be starting middle school and my baby willbe starting Kindergarten. Honestly I think it's gonna be harder for me to let my middle schooler go than my Kindergartener. Like the op said...no more need really for a lot of parent volunteers. I volunteered in her classroom WEEKLY for the past 6 years, what on earth am I gonna do? Not personally knowing all of her teachers is killing me.

oh I can't even think about it anymore... :grouphug:

My DS is going into 2nd grade this year, but I will never forget his first day of kindergarten! He was so excited to get on that bus and I was terrified and killing myself trying not to let him see. As soon as that bus turned the corner I came in the house and cried my eyes out! Needless to say my days of volunteering in the school started immediately!

BTW, at our middle school, there are parent volunteers who run a copy center for the teachers. It's a great way to get to know the school's staff even if they aren't asking for volunteers in the classroom anymore. And of course, the teachers get some much needed help.

My DD was so ecstatic to start Kindergarten last year I couldn't cry -- I was so proud of my little girl --- she was giggles and grins all day long -- and it continued throughout the entire year -- she loved it!! Don't be sad - think of it as a fantastic adventure that you get to talk about all night long when they get home from school. Who knows - it could give you a little more time to plan a Spring Break at Disney!!!!

Hi,

I am a kindergarten teacher to a full day class of twenty-five students. It is the best job in the world! I often think that going to kindergarten for the first time is much harder on the parents than the children. . It takes a few weeks for everyone to acclimate to the new setting, schedule, and routines. :lovestruc My heart goes out to all of you. I hope that you have a wonderful experience. It can be a magical year of discovery and growth!

Well I am not a parent yet, but this is my first year of High School (Started this monday) and my mom told me that she was crying after I got on the bus. haha

Sending them off to Middle School is the hardest thing I have had to do so far......bawled harder to let oldest DD out of the car 2 years ago than all of her first days before that combined.....don't know what I will do next year as she starts high school.....run away for a week I think!! Good thing to note...she wasn't eaten up and spit out like I thought she would be....smaller, shyer and well...well endowed.....the trifecta of getting noticed!!

Yes. I have the end of the Summer blues. Life is so easy in the Summer. My only school-aged child is going to start Third Grade next week--ohh...the stress of school. Tight schedules, homework, miscommunications...even my daughter says she wishes she was little like her brother and got to stay home with Mommy. Sob! Sob! Choke!

My oldest goes to second grade, my middle goes to 1st and my youngest is off to preschool 2 days a week. I can tell you that all of my children have always wanted to go to school and love it so much that even though I may have felt like crying when they started, there smiles and excitement wore off onto me. They love being with friends and making new ones. I was suprised at how well I took the older 2 going to Kindergatren, I was so proud of them and they were so ready to go, hubby however did shed a few tears over how big they were.
I think that we worry so much about those first days that we forget that most kids can't wait...LOL. I know as summer is winding down I again am feeling depressed over loosing "extra" time with them, but all they can talk about are seeing there friends and meeting there new teachers! I guess all moms and dads go thru it is just amazing that before you have kids you never believe people when they say " enjoy it it goes fast" then all of a sudden they grow up and go to school and we are left feeling like we just had them.....
:goodvibes goodvibes to all of us that need them right now!
