No, but snow anywhere else in the country can cause delays and problems. We once walked into Seatac (to fly down the west coast to Anaheim) on a gorgeous day, to find a massive delay caused by weather on the east coast. Planes couldn't get out of there (and couldn't get in there), which rippled along the country as time went on, and each flight we were taking (traveling on miles, had 3 flights that day) was altered and delayed by the east's weather.

Not to mention...google "ice dallas 2013" and see how much fun that was! Poor DH was in Dallas, trying to get back to WA for 24 hours to see our son's first Dance Company performance, and while he made it, it wasn't pretty. And we had to spend the hours before the show started, and the hours after, on the phone with American Airlines, who keep rebooking him 4 days out then we'd fix it, then they'd cancel that flight and rebook him days out, etc. Dallas isn't Houston, but I looked around a bit and found that it snowed in December in Houston in 2009. When it snows in places where it's rare, it messes things up b/c there's no infrastructure to deal with it, and the residents don't generally know what to do (I'm one of those, so I'm not judging it, but it IS the reality).

If You're flying in same day, then I think taking Disney transportation is the best choice.

But just in case they can't hold the ship for you, get your passports (assuming this is a closed loop cruise that you could use BC for) so they can legally fly you to the ship.


OP, keep an eye on your flight. If there's a decent change in it, you can call them and have the flight changed at no extra cost. Perhaps even change it to the day before... Of course then there's an extra hotel night and food, but that's so much better than the strongER (vs flying in the day before) possibility of missing the ship.

We live in Dallas and were cruising when the 2013 Ice Storm hit. It took us 3 1/2 hours to get to the southern edge of Dallas and then 5 hours to get across Dallas (we live in northern suburbs). One of the scariest drives of my life!

The best bet is to fly into Hobby which is south of Houston so that you do not have as far to get to Galveston. I would also take the earliest flight out of LA just in case of a problem and you have to get a later flight. I would not travel like that on the day of departure in any case - especially without trip insurance. ( sorry but true)

Another thing to keep in mind - one time we were scheduled to fly out first thing in the morning to San Diego, however, there was a strong storm approaching and certain airlines were already starting to preemptively cancel flights. I called the airline at 4PM the day before and got onto the last flight out of Houston that night. The change was free of charge and we were able to get into San Diego well ahead of schedule.
