First cruise ever question where on Wish is it best to book your cabin?

This will be the first cruise for any of us. There will by 7 of us. My husband and I, my son and my daughter and her family (her husband and two daughters they will be 10 and 7)
We are going to book the Wish for 3 night Halloween cruise in 2025.
We are going to have 3 verandah rooms. Where on the ship would it be best to stay?

Thanks so much

I like the 8th floor, starboard side, midship near the aft elevators. We were in 8620, my mom was in 8622. On the beginning of the bumpout and right near the elevators/stairwell.

Best is a matter of opinion though.

I had an aft room on the port side; 7192. I liked it a lot. It was a bit of a hike to the elevators, but I figured I would be walking it either way (either before I got on the elevators, or after).

I feel category 4c is the way to go on the wish. Centrally located rooms are just as big as the 4a rooms. Easy to take the stairs everywhere you need to go.

If you’re a huge pool person I’d say 4a. We like feeling the boat so we like being up high.

And yes, always midship.

We stayed on Deck 10 for our cruise on the Wish, it's one deck below the pool and Marceline Market Buffet, so that's an advantage in the mornings when running to get coffee or drinks and breakfast. We stayed right behind the elevators midship in one of the rooms with the extended verandah's. We were pleased with our accidental choice as it was our first ever cruise and we watched a few Youtube vloggers discussing cabin choices on a cruise ship. Which side only matters if you care to be facing the occupied side of Castaway Cay. (Starboard side) I'd think any of the decks are fine, but I'd recommend like others above mid deck and being close to the stairs and elevators for sure.

It's really all a matter of preference. On a cruise ship most of the staterooms are between the top decks (sun, pools, MM, FF, etc) and everything else (shops, lounges, dining rooms, kids areas, etc.). It's really up to you which you prefer to be closer to. On the Wish, we were on deck 12 in 12002 (there was only 1 room more forward than we were), and we were perfectly content with that location when it comes to getting around to the other areas of the ship. It really wasn't that bad.

However, for our cruise on the Treasure (sister ship to the Wish), we opted for a mid-ship bump out room on deck 6. Not having to take an elevator or walk a lot of flights of stairs to get to all the areas on deck 5 and below is a nice perk, particularly when 2/5 of the ship are all trying to use the elevators right before or right after dinner. It's a lot easier to get an elevator in the morning from deck 6 to go up to the pool deck or MM than it is to get an elevator to get to 1923 20 minutes before your dinner seating.

I’ll throw out an alternative

One regular balcony

One Navigators verandah (the upper corner is cut off, but actual floor space is full size

One family oceanview

Example 9158, 9160, 9172. regular, navigators, oceanview

The cut-off corner varies from deck to deck. The second one shows less loss of open view.

The balconies have a doorway that opens between them (the section close to the railing.

The oceanview cabin has the big portholes. You can’t sit in it, but it’s so much bigger than normal portholes. Curtains closed … and open.

I find I don’t spend much time on my balcony, especially on short cruises.

This would give your family a chance to try out various types of cabins. And oceanviews with children are a great security feature. The space of the balcony just means more inside space in this cabin.

OP you don't say what month you are going on the Wish. You just say Halloween. We went on a Halloween cruise on the Wish the end of September. We had a Verandah because I had cruise credit from a different canceled Covid cruise and had to use a certain amount of money or lose it. It was so hot and humid on the Verandah that we didn't use it. We walked out there, took a couple of pictures, tried it a couple of other times and never spent any time out there.

We're sailing on the wish in September next year and we chose one of the bump out rooms with a larger veranda. 9612. From everything I've seen it seems like it's going to work out the best for us.

We sailed on the Wish September 2022. We had 7570, which had a bump out. We walked out on the verandah twice. It was so hot and humid we didn't want to be out there. If I hadn't had a cruise credit that I had to use for a certain amount, I wouldn't have booked the verandah. In 9 cruises, it was our first verandah. Totally not worth the money. I hope you enjoy it though. (We did have a verandah on our Northern Europe/Norway cruise in September 2023 because there was a VGT rate. We did use it a lot because the weather was so much nicer. It wasn't necessary though. We would have been just fine without it too.)
