First come, first serve check in and a possible late arrival. Should I be concerned?

We have a reservation to check in to BCV on Sunday January 18th.

I know check in time isn't until 4:00, but we will be over in Melbourne (an hour away) getting married at noon and figure we may not get to BCV until 6:00pm at the earliest. I requested a view of EPCOT, I want to spend part of the wedding night with a glass of champagne in my hand, sitting on a balcony with my new DH, watching some of the higher fireworks of Illuminations, but this first come first serve check in thing has me a little worried.

Has anyone run into any issues with a late check in at BCV?

We just came back and had two ressies, spending the weekend at "the other place". While checking in I asked the CM if we could have an epcot view when we returned on Sunday. She made the room assignment right then and there! (5 days in advance)

We had 465 and 463.. and they did afford a nice view of Epcot, but we were disappointed. We buit up expectations that turned out to be unrealistic.. we agreed the first ressie we had, overlooking the canal/pool was far, far superior to the Epcot view.

We watched the fireworks once from the balcony.. but took 3 leisurely strolls into Epcot to watch the fireworks from the bridge.

We checked in at 11:30pm on a Friday before Thanksgiving. I was very concerned about checking in this late! I thought with the room ready policy I would get the worst room in the house. The one no one would take! I had nightmares of a smoking room on the first floor near the service road, far from the elevator and parking lot and in disrepair. (yes, yes, I know all these things couldn't happen at the same time at BCV)

I call the front desk around mid day and made sure they had my reservation and were aware we were coming in so late. I quickly mentioned my concerns about the room (mainly non-smoking). She was kind enough to offer to call the room assigner. I was informed that currently we were assigned a non-smoking pool view room. She also mentioned that might change but only one room going out that day was smoking. When we checked in we got room 172 - very nice, non-smoking, first floor over the canal. It worked out great. My real concern was getting a smoking room. Yuck!

So, I guess I learned that they still assign rooms, at least to some degree. But they want the flexability to switch people around if they yell really loud or have some real reason a room doesn't fit their needs.

I'm sure with it being your wedding night they will assign you a great room! But just to be sure maybe you can give them a call!

I hope your day is very magical!!

I would make sure you have listed on your reservation that you are on your honeymoon if you don't have that on there already. Make sure you mention it when you check in too...

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

DEF tell them it's your honeymoon. On my last trip to VWL I arrived at 9 pm. I got none of my requests.... it wasn't until the next day, I realized I was put in a smoking room. I was so tired when I arrived. The front desk actually gave me a hard time about requesting a room change. Next time I am going to be more picky. I was miserable by the end of the week in a smoking room.

Anniet- we will be checking into BWV's on Sunday the 18th of January also- bright and early I might add- so..... if there is anything we can do to secure your room for you, we will be happy to do that! Please, just let me know- we have ressies for a perffered view the first night and a Boardwalk view the second night. JUst pm me if you can think of a way for us to help check you guys in early, or , you can email me at ourdoodie@aol.com

AND CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR MARRIAGE!

Karen

I am sure you will get a nice room, but keep in mind that there are NOT all that many rooms with an Epcot view at BCV where you can really see the fireworks.

Also, if the rooms were all booked the night before and no one checks out then nothing the room assignment person can do will help you.

My concern on posts like this is that if the OP does not get thier requests then lots of times they seem to think the vacation is just ruined. Remember ALL rooms are at Disney, there are worst places to be!

Congrats on your wedding.
