First bit of Pixie Dust!

Okay as silly as this sounds I am so excited! We NEVER have had pixie dust at all but when I was arranging a surprise for my husband today we had some! On our mini-moon (we had to delay our actual honeymoon b/c of my classes) we brought the top part of our wedding cake with us and munched on it at night. DH loved it and mentioned we should do that again. Me being myself told him we could never get a cake like that in Disney and he got all disappointed. So I arranged with the AKL chef to make us this two-tiered wedding cake for our room! It's going to be waiting for us when we check in with some other yummy food!

Heres the pixie dust part! Were getting it for $25!! LOL Its supposed to be $50 but when he asked what decorations I wanted on it I told him he could do whatever he wanted, were not picky. He started cracking up and said no one has ever just let him play with their cake before! So he's "playing with his frosting to surprise us" and is giving it to us for half off for letting him play! LOL How awesome is that!? He sounded like an excited kid in the candy store and let me go mumbling to himself about roses and mickey ears! LOL I LOVE Disney employees who are fun like that!!!! I can't wait to see DH's face now!!

Certainly! Okay the guy I spoke to is the pastry chef at the AKL. His name is Ed and he's hilarious! Normally he said a cake that is about 6 on the bottom tier, and having a top tier (no filling) is $40-$50. Obviously the prices depend on what he is adding, we just aren't adding any filling b/c I'm allergic to just about every concievable one! lol The phone number there is (407) 938-7138. If he is not there leave a message for him, and he is off on Sundays and Mondays. I spoke to him today too and he wasn't in until after 9, so I don't think he starts work before than either. But since I called in the morning I had no phone wait or anything, I think b/c they are not as busy in the morning perhaps.

The room service people can place the fully made pastry in your room for you whenever you request it. We spent about 5 minutes working out the logistics and he was very helpful, wanting to know when he thought we would be checking in and when I could get my husband out of the room so the room service people would not be caught.

If you do not get him another person to talk to is Peggy Gentry. Shes in charge of the Food and Beverage services at the AKL and is the one who arranged all of this with Ed before I spoke to him. If someone would tell me how to post pictures I can post the photos she sent me of more of their surprise food. Like giraffes with zebra striped strawberries and the like.

Wonderful! The AKL concierge surprised us with an anniversary cake (small one tier cake with zebra stripe frosting). It was outstanding, so I'm sure your cake will be fantastic!

For those staying at other resorts, I just wanted to let you know that the Grand Floridian Bakery can make a replica of your wedding cake for you. You can choose from 1 or 2 tier. They did a great job replicating our cake. Here's a picture of the replica:
