DS turns one on the trip
Surprisingly, the baby slept through the night, waking up around 6:30. Pretty good for sleeping in a different place. He usually sleeps until 8 am, but we consider anything past 6 am as a bonus! We decided to make this a relaxing vacation. So, we call to see if we can get into the Cape May Buffet Character Breakfast. We make an 8:30 ps. Was a bit nervous if the baby would like the characters or be frightened. At home, he is a very happy, outgoing baby. He's independent and doesn't mind the dark. But, you never know how a child will react away from home.
We check in at the breakfast and are given a pager. We wait 5 minutes and are seated. The waitress is excellent and returns to the table many times to check on us. The food was excellent, hot and fresh too! The fist character to come was Chip. Now, the baby had his eyes on the characters from the moment we entered the restaurant. Chip was great! He walked up slowly and put his hand out for the baby to touch to see what kind of reaction he would get. Well, the baby giggled and that was it! He loved touching the characeter's noses and fur. They were very playful with him and spent a lot of time. Dale was next and then Goofy. Minnie was in the lobbey, but somehow we missed seeing her. We'll catch her later on in the trip though. An excellent character meal and I would highly recommend it!
After filling our bellies, we decide to hit SAB. The pool is awesome! The baby loves the water and splashed and giggled. He liked it when we brought him close to the water fall on the rocks. He loved the baby pool too. He crawled all over the sand and splashed in the water. I can't say enough about this resort. DH has announced that he has found his favorite hotel and will not stay anywhere else. I remind him about the AP rate and how it isn't always offered in the fall. He says he doesn't care, it's worth it! Don't worry, I read the DIS and refuse to pay rack rates. We'll just have to arrange our visits around the AP rates!!!
We grab lunch at Hurricane Hannah's and then decide it's nap time. The baby conks right out in the crib and we nap too! Three hours later, we wake up and decide it's Epcot time! We loved the convenience of walking to Epcot. It was a short walk and a beautiful view!
We walk around World Showcase and decide to see if we can get into Le Cellier earlier than our PS. There is a line, but we are seated within 5 minutes. The food was excellent! I tried the Cheddar Cheese soup and loved it. The pretzel bread sticks were excellent too. We finish in time to see the first TOD parade. I got all choked up watching the baby watch the puppets. We've been listening to the TON cd in the car from before "Peanut" was born. The music is very soothing for him and when he hears it in the car, he settles right down. Well, you could tell that he knew the music. He smiled and giggled when it started. We loved the parade and thought it was very similar to TON.
We strolled around a few countries and then went to the bridge between France and UK to watch Illuminations. The baby fell asleep and DH and I enjoyed the light show. We had a nice walk back to YC, stopping at B & C along the way.
It was indeed the perfect day at Disney
