Hey All - we are taking our first trip home to BCV this Friday (5/30). We are all excited, but I think I might be the most excited of the lot of us. Since this is our first trip I am looking for suggestions as to things we should bring from home and things that can be expected in the rooms. Also, any recommendations on how to get a great view of Epcot? Can I request specific room at the club?

Any other advice is welcome.

Thanks!

If you are going to have ice cream in your freezer, then bring a plastic ice cream scoop.

The best way to get a room request is to mention it when you make your reservation. Room requests are an official part of your reservation and are listed on your reservation acknowledgement letter from DVC. It's OK to mention at checkin that you'd appreciate a particular view if available, but if it doesn't happen just enjoy what you are given. IMO it's bad form to negotiate your room assignment at checkin.

It seems there are pros and cons to every "view." For instance, some people say they had a good view but lots of road noise. I just made my reservations for spring 04 and just requested the things most important to us (such as 2 queen beds in the 2nd bedroom and NO SMOKING.) All of that is on my confirmation. If you can't see what you want from your room you could always go outside to see. Good luck and have a GREAT trip! Please tell us all about it when you get back!!

Here are some other things, which we have found useful or wish we had:

1) Bottled Water - Disney's is $2.40 a throw. Whether
vegging by the pool or storming the parks, it's easy to
get dehydrated.

2) A cooler with wheels - To keep all that water in. Very
helpful because SAB is a long walk from the villas. Nice
not to have to carry it.

3) Buy the refillable mugs - if your family is big soda
drinkers this will pay for itself fast.

4) Film - If you still use film cameras, bring it with you or
buy it in Orlando offsite. It's very pricey at Disney.

5) Medicines - You need a home equity loan to get a
bottle of Pepto Bismol, Dramamine, or the like at WDW.
Bring it from home - you'll likely be eating more and
richer food than usual.

6) Beach towels - Nice big ones. The towels at the pools
are just too small.

7) Rubber pool shoes - Another thing you don't want to
have to buy at WDW.

8) Patience pills - If only these existed. It's hot, it's
crowded, and (pardon the un PC here) foreigners are
always cutting you off while walking or in line. As
much as you want it to be, vacations are seldom
perfect. Crummy things happen - just relax and roll
with them. You (and your kids) are on vacation.

Have a great time!

You guys are awesome. Thanks for the great tips and suggestions. We will be sure to submit a trip report when we get back (if we have to come back).

15 hours will we leave!!:jester: :earseek: :earsboy:
