This is not a good week for the Atlantic coast states. Watching the Weather channel and our local forecast - they truly sound ominous. Do not think they are over-reacting this time.
Gee, in 2 weeks time, we'll be cruising on the Atlantic...

I looked this afternoon and it seems like if we don't get a ton and a half of rain, we'll get tornadoes. Whoopee!

Nancy, clear the driveway!!! The Blinks are rolling into town!!!!!!

Trying to convince hubby to come home early so we can pull stuff up from the basement and load the RV. I'm tempted to leave the area and head west.

Doesn't look so hot but I am not a meteorologist. I just hope that it doesn't destroy the Jersey beaches again, they just had them done again last year. Hope everyone is safe!

stay safe everyone on the east coast, praying hard Irene heads out to sea!

stay safe... as I told you... driveway is ready and we have the go ahead for the year between our houses!!!!

I hope it decides to head out to sea....did anyone feel the quake this morning about 1am? 4.4 per our news stations....

They just likend it to Gloria in 85 which I remember well. they have also said it could be worse :scared1:. I just told the boys that pick up starts today. EVERYTHING needs to go in the shed, barn or basement. It will take 2 days to put all the stuff away. all machinery has to be brought in from the fields which parts are already under water and after todays rain........

Stay safe everyone.

Mr. Weatherman (here in Boston!) seems to think it's going to hit Boston. Be down to a Category 1 by the time it gets here, but that's still 75 MPH winds. I was here for Gloria, and on the Vineyard as a nanny for Bob. Not fun. I'm hoping they're all wrong and it goes out to sea!

I'm thinking of you all and praying you stay safe:grouphug:

I remember Gloria- the one day of the year my dad had duty overrnight at the Coast Guard Academy- the eye went right down our street\. The best thing about dad being at the academy was that when he came home (since he had talked with mom and knew what the neighborhood looked like he brought a van full of cadets that went out and helped the whole neighborhood clean up. I pray that it calms down and heads out to sea.

We wish it would head out to sea, but we are in the path for a definite hit! If its path heads east, we'll get very heavy rains, if the path heads west, we get the high winds, heavy rains and possible tornadoes.
Hey Jen - batton down the hatches in the Boston area. Joyah, we'll make sure nothing is left out too. You have far more to "get in" than we do!
Have really strong storm heading in today, not related to the hurricane at all. Ok, enough is enough.
.

I do not like the track of this storm!!! We will be spending Saturday packing up the outdoor funiture. Hope everyone stays safe.

Stay safe everyone! Hope it goes out to sea. Prayers coming your way! :goodvibes

My house is a wreck right now, but we have plenty of floor space and a super long driveway to park in. We are just minutes off the highway. Seriously, if anyone needs to get away, just pm me and I'll give you my cell number.

On Tuesday when I was home with the boys on a vacation day to get them ready for back to school on Wednesday, I truly thought they were playing a practical joke on me by shaking the bed. Then I looked around and realized I was the only person in the room. Boy did they come running fast when the whole house rumbled. It was really bizarre....I thought someone ran into the house with a car or something, but it lasted too long to have been that. I said "I think that was an earthquake" and they all laughed at me. Half an hour later I was watching TV and sure enough it was a quake. Guess mom isn't so dumb after all. Now....to get the boys to put everything in the shed/barn so it doesn't all blow away this weekend. Or better yet.....maybe I should let all the stuff blow away. JUST KIDDING! I know what we will be doing tonight and tomorrow night....preparing for the hurricane.

I wonder if they will evacuate the Cape as more info comes through the weather channels? Rt 6, the only main road on the Cape, is their evacation route. Will keep watching to see what does happen.
We are at the other end of the state, above Hartford, CT.

So the prep work has begun and Aunts and grandparents are already calling to borrow the boys..................... sigh...................... I've got the front porch almost cleaned and battened down. Barn area is being done now by the boys and Tom. Guess what It's raining here!!!ARGH

Stay safe everyone and get out if you can.

Linda in years passed they've closed the road onto the cape you can only get off, I would hope they would do that again.
Caroline great pick up planning!

back to cleaning
