Just booked 5 nights for November 2011 at AKV for our first Disney vacation leaving the kids at home. Sorry Kids, we will send a postcard. Very much looking forward to a magical trip with the wife!

We are planning a 2-week trip for 2012 with the kids, so we aren't being to abusive. Okay, maybe I feel a little guilty, but still looking forward to it.

Hi ftballfan7,
Sounds like a great trip. :woohoo: Animal Kingdom is a wonderful resort. :lovestruc Have a great time with DW. With a two week trip planned the kids will be fine. :goodvibes

Your trip sounds great. One of the best things you can do for your children is to keep your relationship strong. We had a long weekend without kids last March and it was so much fun. Really showed us that we can still enjoy ourselves and even have a conversation, things that often get lost with kids around. Our best day was spent just relaxing in the room and at the pool. We stayed at BWV.

For the first bunch of years we always planned 2 trips a year - one with the kids in a two bedroom and one on my wife's birthday for just the two of us in a one bedroom. Once the kids were able to tour the parks on their own we stepped down to one trip a year.

Now that the youngest is in college, we use the extra points for a cruise every couple of years.

We are getting ready to take a trip just the two of us too!!!! 44 days!!

It's going to seem weird without them, but I think we'll manage!

have fun!!

One of our favorite things to do-Disney w/o kids. We are going end of Jan with 2 other couples to celebrate their 30th Anniversary. We love doing the adult things but at the same time, we enjoy talking to the little ones on the bus rides home after being in the parks... So its the best of both worlds....Have a Wonderful time!!!
(And btw, your kids will prob still be a bit resentful of you going w/o them, but they'll get over it... my DD22 & my friends dd16 are giving us the cold shoulder whenever the upcoming trip comes up b/c we are going w/o them!! Oh well....:cool1:) Deb

DH and I were doing adult-only trips before the DS (now 4) came along so saw no reason to change that. First few years we dropped him off w grandparents and snuck away, now we take him for 1 day then grandpa picks him up and we have couple/adult friends time for the rest of the trip. Best of both worlds, but I can't imagine doing a whole week of the slow pace young uns require and not being able to go on Space Mountain for the whole week together! It helps that grandparents live 3500 miles away from us and love spoiling him the two weeks a year they get. Disney sans children = awesome. No guilt! Just enjoy.

DW and I took our first adult only trip this past October. WE LOVED IT! We were able to pull it off because we were taking the kids down in December.

Recommend doing it whenever practical.

Hubby and I just took our first official - adult only - WDW trip this past October for the F & W. We have only done this twice before. It was a very much needed trip.

Enjoy and have a great time. You will love it.

We are having our first adults only trip next month!! :cool1: Feeling guilty but not enough to invite my DSs to go with us. LOL!

We haven't taken a grownup trip in many years. It's way overdue!

Just returned on Wed from a 5 night adult only trip with 2 of our best friends in a 2 bedroom BLT! Le Cellier for dinner, MVMMCP, football Sunday (went to MK in the a.m. back by 1:00) made a nice pasta dinner with wine and the best part of all we laughed the entire time! I feel rejuvinated! Of course my youngest DD (15) jokes she still cannot believe we went without her to the happiest place on earth!

Enjoy!

Good for you.... Are you going for the Food and Wine activities????

Enjoy :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Don't spend even one moment feeling guilty. Those kids will get to go PLENTY.

You will have the time of your lives! :goodvibes

DH & I took our first Adult only trip to WDW last April....so worth it. I would love to go again after tax season this year (I am a CPA), but it does not look like it will happen. DH :teacher:doesn't want to use a personal day :sad1:...we'll just have to wait to go as a family in June!
