Here it is. This is my first 4th of July living in Orlando and what am I doing? I'm sitting at home. We are afraid to leave the dog at home alone because he is afraid of loud noises. DD wanted to go to MK for the day, but I talked her out of it. We will go outside tonight and watch "Wishes" (we can see them from our street), but we can't stray very far. We aren't sure what the neighbors will do as far as fireworks are concerned. I told DD that it would be very crowded at MK. She bought it. Truthfully, I'd like to be at MK myself. It's amazing how much our pets rule our lives! Got to love 'em!

Go to MGM and watch the Sorcery in the Sky. They only do it once or twice a year. That's where I would be.

True!! I'd like to be at the beach the entire day and night. Can't do it with the pup. So we'll head there late this afternoon.

The dog will be fine. Lock it up in the basement and have fun. Easily said when I'm stuck here in Ohio just a month after major surgery and very easily jealous of any one doing anything fun. :)

Well, lets think about it. Doesnt the dog hear fireworks every day? (Wishes?) Maybe even multiple times a day.. with other parks nearby..

I would go be happy, and enjoy myself.

Put the dog in at the kennel by the Magic Kingdom.

You're right, he does hear Wishes each night. He's getting kind of used to that. I was afraid that the neighbors might set off fireworks close by. So far, it is totally quiet. That is if you don't count the thunderstorm that is closing in on us. Live and learn!

We don't have basements in Florida.

A basment in Florida would be an indoor swimming pool, LOL.

I'm taking care of my neighbor's dog, so I decided to check on him a few minutes ago. The fireworks have been going off here since around 8 and still going strong. Anyway, the dog was a little nervous, he was waiting for me as I opened the front door. I can imagine what it's like for an animal to hear so many explosions and loud noises for such a long period of time. One thing is to hear fireworks going off for 15 or 30 minutes, another is to hear the constant noise for nearly 2 hours.

I'm probably overly protective of him, but poor Griffin has had it rought lately. First, we have to put down his dear friend Scout. Shortly thereafter, I board him for a week and then fly him to Florida. He wasn't here for a week when I left him crated and it stormed. He pushed his head out of the crate and took all the skin off of his nose and around one eye. He was just beginning to heal up and I had to board him again for 3 days while I flew back to Missouri to attend my nephews wedding. I told the techs at the vet's office where I boarded him that he was frightened of storms. They put him in the same type of crate that I had used before and, you guessed it! He pushed out again and took all the skin off his nose again! He is just beginning to heal up. I just don't want to put him through too much right now. I'm mush where he is concerened!
