FIRM Check In Week 7

Hi everyone. I did the abs workout last night, I did 2 out of the 3 and figured that was a good start. The way that it makes my stomach burn, I know I'm going to have a nice, flat tummy one day. I have to say that The complete aerobics and weight training is my favorite video, it's the only one that I can keep up with. The total sculpt loses me at the dance moves and I feel like I can never get back in rythum with them. The maximum cardio blast (I think that's what it's called:confused: ) is just way too fast. do you guys think I should alternate them anyways and tdo what I can, or just work with the one I like until I'm able to do better at the other ones?

Last night I was soooooooo tired and I didn't feel like exercising, but I made myself, and you know what? I felt great afterwards, I had more energy than I'd had the whole day yesterday. Yesterday my legs were sore, but today they are REALLY sore. I'm going to exercise anyway and I think that they will be fine. It's a good feeling though, tired muscles. I don't know, I guess it's a reminder that it's working:teeth:

Good morning my firmie friends, well did upper body this am (from the older tapes). Boy do I feel my arms now, but it does go fast so I slowed or stopped but managed to get the whole tape in. It's just so cheesey, Lord they were wearing leg warmers. And I'm sorry, really sorry but men should not wear lycra.

Christina I so agree with you. When I work out I feel so much better, for me it has been key to battling depression.

Octoberbride, don't be so hard on your weight during that most special time of month! I can see the difference in my body during that time by just looking in the mirror.

Have a great day everyone!

FIRMIES!
This AM was Super Body Sculpt w/ Stephanie. I love this tape, even if I could only squeeze in Upper and Lower Body portions, before I had to awaken DSs for the bus. While I missed the Ab section (esp. those planks!), I still feel like this is one of the best mid-week workouts. Tomorrow is a day off from work & I have a date w/ Emily & my newest DVD, Complete Aerobics & Weight Training.

Don't let the scales make you crazy. I know that weigh-ins are crucial, esp. when you're earning clippies. But just remember that you can gain over a lb. by retaining water, either due to TOM or too much salt in your food. Even my "bowel habits" would effect my weigh-ins. That's why measurements are so important & from the measurements that you posted previously, it sounds like you are doing great.
Christinadei,
Melanie posted a list of FIRM routines, put into 3 categories: Cardio+Aerobics, Cardio & Sculpt. I found this list to be very helpful in understanding the different types of routines and how to set up an ideal "work-out week". I think it was in our Week 6 thread, if you want to go back & look at it. It has made a big difference for me.
Have a happy & healthy day! SGG

Hey everyone,

This morning I did Super Cardio Sculpt from the BSS1 add on tapes and FIRM Abs-workout 1 from the BSS2 add on tapes.

I didn't particularly care for the workout 1 from the FIRM Abs tape. When I was done, I was like thats it? I really didn't feel it much. I may try 2 & 3 tonight, just to see if I feel them. I don't think I would do workout 1 again, unless I add it to another ab workout. The actual ab workout wasn't long enough. Too much stretching. I got a good workout from Super Cardio Sculpt and had I woke up earlier I was going to do Calorie Killer too. Kept hitting the snooze!!

Sue- I haven't tried that tape yet, and I haven't even opened Super Sculpt Blaster yet. I need to try both of those out. I re-read the back of Super Sculpt Blaster and it says its all 4 limb to maximize your workout. I have heard its hard, but haven't done it because of the short time. I am interested now. Doing sculpting while doing 4 limb the whole time should also give a pretty tough cardio workout. Can't wait to try them both. There just isn't enough days in the week! lol!

S&K's mom-
That's another tape I haven't tried from the 4 pack. Actually, I haven't tried any except 5 day abs. I did watch Standing legs last night though. I wanted to see what I was in for. I am thinking of doing it this weekend, but I am not sure. Still scared for my knees because they have been feeling so good. I was really tired and sore just watching the hoover squats at the end. I mean, they just worked your legs majorly, and then they throw in what seemed like massive amount of hoover squats!! YOWZA!
We would probably all have buns of steel if we did this tape once a week!

christinadei- I definately think that after you work out you feel so much better! I am not a morning person, and it took me so long to get up enough courage to try working out in the morning. I love it now, I can't believe how good I feel after working out in the morning. It gives me so much energy all day, and I don't have to worry about being tired in the evening. My workout is complete and there is no guilt the rest of the day. Keep up the great work!

Have a good day everyone!

I looked back at the Firm Check in week 6 and read the info on rotating the tapes, but I'm still confused. I have BSS2 and I'm not really sure which is which or how I should rotate them. Any help would be appreciated.:teeth:

Melanie-I love the ab workout, but normally do all 3 together on off nights that I'm not doing another workout. They are all really short, so I think it's about 30 minutes for all 3.

Guess who's claimed a new clippie :jester:

WOO HOO!!! A whole 10lbs. gone and it only took me 4 months. Its really nice to be claiming this in time for Easter. And I hope it doesn't take me another 4 months to lose the next 10. But in reality I'm planning to get pregnant sometime soon. So i may not get anymore clippies for a bit. We'll see.

TY for the replies about my question yesterday. It just gets so confusing when I know I'm right on the verge of 10 lbs, and trying to beat Aunt Flo at the same time. i usually gan at least 3lbs with her visit so I knew it didn't have anything to do that.

Anyhow, this is likely my last post until next tuesday. I plan on doing AS at some point today. May not be until later tonight when I'm winding down for bed. But i enjoy doing my Ab workouts at night. Clears the head.

christine: How many days have you worked out in a row? If you've done 4 or 5 days, then I suggest you take a rest day. When my legs get sore and i can really feel the fatigue I know its time for a day off. Don't worry about needing 2 or 3 rest days right now, cause you're still getting into it. So am I even though I'm on BSS1. But the exercises are a lot harder than any other workout I've done up till now. So i let my body be my guide.

Hope everybody has a wonderful weekend, and Happy Easter to those who celebrate it.

And Happy Passover to any Jews.

I've only exercised 2 days in a row. My muscles are always sore the next day and more sore the 2nd day after exercising for the first time in a while. Is anyone else like that?

I love reading about everybody's progress! You go Octoberbride! I already gave you a shout out on the thread you started but hey 10 pounds deserves a lot of congrats so congratulations again!!!!

This morning I did cardio sculpt blast with Lisa Kay. I just love that tape.

I gotta run but I hope you all have a wonderful afternoon! :)

HI FIRMies!!!! and {{{BIG HUGS}}} to everyone!!! :grouphug: A big WELCOME to christinadei!:wave2:

I'm so sorry I haven't posted in so long, but I have been keeping up with your progress and am SO THRILLED for you all! Everybody is doing such a terrific job, and I'm so proud of your motivation, determination and committment to being a healthier you!

I want to thank all of you for your care and concern and especially to Mel and Lisa for your sweet PMs! I've really missed you guys! Things have been kind of yucky here at home, but are getting better day by day.:) I've continued my workouts, and (yes, Melanie) I swear that if I didn't have the physical and emotional strength that I've gained from consistent exercise, I would've been a real wreck. It sounds soooo cliched, but working out really has done wonderful things not only for my body, but for my mind as well! Thanks for all your kindnesses, I really appreciate them!

Now I have something to tell you: I have STRAYED! Mel and Lisa already know this, but I have been doing a lot of Cathe Friedrich videos lately!!!   The FIRM workouts have built up my fitness so much, that I wanted to take it to the next level. After some researching on the Firm Ya Ya's and VideoFitness boards, I decided to give Cathe a try. She is one Insane Fitness Beast, :scared: and I have to do a lot of modifying, but I'm really enjoying the intensity. I'm also doing one of her serious heavy weightlifting videos to get some muscle pop going on! Macho Kim.:cool2: But as I told Melanie, I'll never give up my MCB or CAWT--I just love them too much! CAWT is on the schedule for tomorrow. I just wanted to let you know what your continued committment to the FIRM will do for you. I have never been so strong or in such good cardiovascular shape in my life! I can lift heavier weights, aerobicize and kickbox for over an hour and feel so energized afterwards! I got these things from FIRMing, and even though I'm doing things a little differently now, I have them to thank for everything (and to you guys for keeping me motivated)! I have often thought of writing to them (especially my favorite instructor, Allie), to let them know what they've done for me. They must get tons of letters though, and to be honest I'd probably feel a little geeky doing it! Keep it up all you FIRMies--you are doing the MOST WONDERFUL THING for your minds and bodies, and I'm proof positive of what those workouts will do!

May I still check in with you all once in a while, or has the tribe spoken and kicked me off Fanny Lifter Island? :hyper: :teeth: Oh, I've missed you guys so much! Take care and Keep On FIRMing!

Lots of Love and Hugs to all!!!

Well it's been another bust week so I haven't been able to post much again.

Yesterday I did my walk/run on the treadmill and then I did the Upper body part of Body Sculpt and the Abs part of Super Body Sculpt. My legs were tired after increasing my running so I gave them a rest from FIRMing yesterday.

Today I did Complete Aerobics & Weight Training, I am really liking this tape more and more. I still feel very uncoordinated during the aerobics parts but today I had the time to rewind each of those parts and do them a second time and was starting to feel more comfortable with them.

Melanie a few days back in this thread you asked how I liked Super Body Sculpt but I haven't had a chance to answer you yet. I love SBS. I feel like I get such a good strength workout and on days that I get on the treadmill I feel I'm getting my cardio from that. I really like SBS because there are 3 segment, Lower body, Upper body and Abs. I like Body Sculpt alot too but it doesn't have any Abs and I love the Abs part of SBS.

christinadei, welcome to this weekly thread! I just started FIRMing again a few weeks ago and everyone here is great and very inspiring. This has really kept me motivated to stick with this.
I think the thread that sueg was referring to is one that Melanie posted a while ago actually titled FIRM Video categories and it is a wealth of FIRM info. I printed it and refer to it often to help me pick what tapes I'm going to do when. Here is the link to the thread www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=515716 (I hope I did that right ;) )

Kim we have missed you! I'm glad things are getting better and I hope they continue to do so sending some :wizard: and  I certainly hope you continue to check in here with us!!! Good luck with your new workouts!!!

With the busy weekend coming up I might not get to FIRM for a few days :( . If so everyone have a Happy Easter!

Cheryl

Thanks, Cheryl N.WI for setting it straight about Melanie's thread. I was confused (Yes, it's happening more & more...) and I probably was confusing Christina. But the thread is so useful, it's worth the effort. I printed it, too and it inspired me to buy Complete Aerobics & Weight Training--which is my first FIRM DVD. SGG

That is great. Thanks so much for posting the link Cheryl. That's excactly what I was lookign for and what I was hopign to see too. Since Complete Aerobics and Weight trainign is my favorite, I'll plan on doing it 2x per week, cardio burn twice (I think I'll work up to that, or just do as much of it as I can) and Total sculpt once. This will be great. Here is my tentative schedule:

Monday:
Tuesday: Complete Aerobics & Weight Training
Wednesday:
Thursday:Maximum cardio burn
Friday:Total Sculpt
Saturday: Maximum cardio Burn
Sunday: Complete Aerobics and weight Training.

Now, I think this will be my last question. Can I do the abs videos on my days off? I want to work on them extra and just can't see myself doing them after a 1 hour workout. The main problem is time, by the time I start exercising, it's late.

THanks so much, you are all the best!!!!!!!!
:Pinkbounc

Hi Christina,

Yep you can do your abs on your day off. Technically its one of the few muscles you can work 7 days a week. I will find more info later from the FIRM website with more specific information on how much and when and post it here.

I'd do it now, but I am leaving to go home now.

Kim - I am so happy to see you posting on our thread again! I haev been thinking of you and I'm glad to hear things are getting better. Maybe one day I can give those advanced work outs a try. For right now, I'm still trying to get all the moves on my cardio sculpt blast video but I have high hopes to step it up a bit like you said and I might be calling upon your expertise when I'm ready. Take care and you will always be my FIRM-sis! :hyper:

I did Complete Aerobics and Weight Training last night and boy did it feel good. My muscles were achy and sore,b ut exercising made them feel better. I love thtat DVD. It's hard to keep up with at parts, but I was happy to finish the whole video.

I'm planning on doing Maximum Cardio burn tonight, hopefully I'l have a chance. I'm not sure if me and DH are giong out for date night tonight and it may be too late when we get home. If not, I'll at least try to get an ab workout or something in.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Good morning all. Today was tbs2 with Jen. I think Sat and Sun will be my rest days but I did take out an old Richard Simmons tape just in case I'm motivated to do some aerobics in the am but not so strenuous as firming. luvmydogs I think we all forgive you for straying;) It's really inspiring that you are able to do more intense videos it gives us all motivation. Well I'm not going to worry about Easter eating. I found it's been becoming an obsession so I'm just gonna keep firming and eat well most day but enjoy the days I stray. have a happy Easter and Passover everyone.

Good morning FIRMies!
Hi Kim!!!!!:wave2: It is so good to hear from you!::yes:: I'm glad to hear that you are doing well. I hope that each day that goes by gets better and brighter for you. :sunny: Of course you are always most welcome here! You are such an inspiration to all of us and we miss you when you're not here. ::yes:: That new workout sounds really tough! You can do it! Welcome back Kim! :jumping1:

This morning I did Total Sculpt plus Abs with Jen and Ab Sculpt with Lisa. I was supposed to get Ab Sculpt in yesterday but ran out of time. Also.... I added my 3 Month clippie today!!!!!!!Woohoo! :Pinkbounc  I think I heard somewhere that after three months of FIRMing, the weight is supposed to pour right off. If that's the case, I say, " BRING IT ON!" :teeth: I'd love to hit Onederland before June 1st.

Well, everyone..... have a great weekend, a nice holiday, and keep up the good work! You are all an inspiration to me and you are doing a great job!

Tracy:wave2:

Tracy - I love your clippie!

Today was BSS1 body sculpt (lower body) for me. I feel great like I usually do after a FIRM work out.

The sun is shining and I want to get out there and soak some of it in.

I hope you all have a great weekend. :sunny:

Well today is my rest day, so I slept in. Although I did set my alarm clock and was going to rest on Sunday, I decided I might need extra AP points on Sunday since its Easter.

Not sure what I am going to do this weekend. I have been thinking about trying Standing Legs and Upper Body one right after the other. That, or maybe I will do FIRM Strength on Saturday and FIRM Cardio on Sunday.

Lisa- I had Body Sculpt laid out to do, now I don't know what I will do this weekend.

Tracy- Congrats on the month clippie. I hope the weight starts melting off for you too!!

s&k'smom- I agree, just take most of the week easy with eating and then when it comes time to the big meals and treats don't stress about it. This is a life change , and in life we will always have Holidays and such. You have to enjoy them, and then hop back on the wagon and move on.

Christina- I agree that doing exercise really makes the muscles less sore. Keep up the great work!

Kim- Glad to see you posting again. You know that you are ALWAYS welcomed here. One of these days I am going to have to try Cathe, but I really like FIRMing and it still challenges me so I will keep plugging along. You are my fitness hero! You are doing so well. Glad to see your sunny posts again!

Cheryl- Thanks for the review on SBS. I watched them before I went to bed last night (SBS & Body Sculpt Blaster).

Octoberbride- Congrats on claiming that 10lb clippie. Whoo hoo!!

Have a good Easter and Passover everyone.
