Firm Check in Week 19

FIRMIES!
It was Ab Sculpt w/ Lisa Kay this AM. Not a strenuous workout--somewhere between a 30 minute tape and an off-day. But my abs can always use a little special attention.

CruisinCA2005
The fanny lifter is an important part of almost all workouts. However, some of the earlier tapes only used a "step" or "tall box". Before I had a fanny lifter, I used an old Fisher-Price chair as a substitute. I started w/ the FIRM Firm Parts 4pk. I did Tough Tape2 and Upper Body without a fanny lifter, using the sturdy, child's chair. Others have used a stool. None of the earlier workouts used the sculpting stick and I still don't own one. You can substitute free weights & a dowel, depending on how the sculpting stick is being used in the workout.

I'm a little concerned about the billing on orders from firmdirect. When my most recent order came, it had an invoice w/ it that was a much higher price than the special price from the website. Now I am looking at the billing on my credit card bill and the higher price went thru, but there seems to be an adjustment later in the bill. I hope I held onto the invoice & e-mail confirmation at home.

Have a happy & healthy day! SGG

Good morning all!

This morning I did super body sculpt (upper and lower) with Stephanie Corley. This makes 3 FIRM work outs in a 24 hour period for me. It was a nice experiment but I think I'll go back to my regular schedule. I'm feeling quite a bit of tension that I don't normally have in my neck and back right now. But I am proud of myself that I did it!

I hope you all have a great day! :)

Zera's Pride don't over do it! My mommy mode is coming out and feeling very protective.

s&k'smom - you know I appreciate you looking out for me. This was just an experiment to see if I could push myself. I did but I'm really feeling it today. I definitely won't be doing 2 work outs in one day again. Thanks Mom! :)

Just a quick Firm check in before I go to bed-
Monday- just treadmill 35 mins-and watched the first tape from my set I got with the FL.
Tonight (Tues) I did Cardio Sculpt with Allie. No weights- followed Libby. Now I know who she is!:teeth:

I think I'm gonna rotate treadmill and Cardio Sculpt till the end of the week- then Add the Ab Sculpt next week. Just the crunches I did today are probably gonna take their toll.

Can I ask a question? I have been reading back but just wondering- how long have the rest of you been doing Firm tapes?
Just wondering if it will take me months or years :teeth: to get better at these.

Thanks.

Allright Zera'spride I'll leave you alone. Well for now.;)

gadizlover, I've been firming for a little over a year off and on but over the last two months really made the committment and have seen it pay off big time.

Today was lower bodyII with Libby. Was again supposed to do an hour long tape but I think losing my job has bothered me more than I admit and I'm just exhausted. I think my mom was right and I need this break.

G' Morning FIRMies!

I just could not face Cathe this morning, so I pulled out MCB + Abs! Wheeeeeeeeee----I had so much fun! I'd really forgotten how much I enjoy this one (except that dang step-n-scoop--I'll NEVER get it!)! I also felt some creakin' and crackin' going on in different areas of this old bod--yet another good argument for cross-training!

S&k'smom! I had no idea you're losing you're job. I am so very sorry. I'm sure you've got a lot on your mind right now and I congratulate you for still getting your workouts in. Sometimes exercise can really relieve stress and give your mind a nice endorphin rush--I hope you're finding that to be true for you. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers that things work out for the best for you and your family.:grouphug:

Hi Tracy! I think it's a good idea to rest up when you're not feeling well, and I sure hope you're feeling better today! And hey! What's this about having a "CARB FEST" and not inviting me?!!! :teeth:

Hi sueg! Glad you're enjoying your workouts! I had trouble with the FIRM's parent company, Good Times, around a year ago and finally had to get my credit card company involved. Not saying this to scare you, just giving a little heads up to continue to keep an eye on your CC statement. You're a smart cookie! :)

Lisa! Three workouts in 24 hours--YOWZA!!! I've notified Cathe of our intent to not participate in her next series. She is devastated and thinking of cancelling the whole thing. Her exact words I believe, were, "I fear I can no longer go on..." Wow...see how others look to us as examples of fitness prowess. We soooooo rule! :cool1:

Hi gadizlover! I'm glad you found the FIRM thread! Just a little info. for you... I lost 110 pounds in 15 months and The FIRM was a big part of my success! When I started, I wasn't even fit enough as a beginner to "follow Libby, " but I just did what I could, starting about 3x/week, eventually moving up to 6x/week. I'm not stretching the truth when I say I saw fitness gains each week--they may have been small, but they were successes none the less. Just things like being able to do just one leg press on the full 14' Fanny Lifter when before I could do none; doing an extra pushup--just things like that. It was something different each week, combined with the fact that I FELT so much better. If you keep FIRMing (and treadmilling--cross training is great for you!) consistently and eat well, you will definitely see and feel the difference. Don't let the tricky footwork or fast pace discourage you! The most important important thing you can do to increase your fitness level is to work WITHIN your fitness level! Consistent FIRMing and healthy eating really got me into excellent cardiovascular and muscular shape. I've moved along to Cathe Friedrich workouts for the most part now, but it was The FIRM who got me fit enough to do her! I still like to post here and see all the accomplishments of my FIRMin' Buddies! The're a great group, and all their shared experiences, advice and dedication will really motivate and inspire you! So glad you're here!

Have a lovely day FIRMies!:sunny:

Good morning FIRMies!

My body was screaming for a break this morning so I took today as a rest day instead of tomorrow. I'll see if DH wants to take a 30 minute walk this evening so we can get in some type of exercise today.

gadizlover - I started doing FIRM tapes on February 24, 2003 (I know it's pathetic that I know the exact date) and worked out for about six months straight. I saw some toning and firming but no weight loss because my eating habits were terrible. I went to Disney in August and didn't come back to the FIRM until December of 2003/January of 2004. I haven't looked back since. Combining the FIRM and South Beach has been wonderful for me. I have lost about 50 inches, gone from a size 9 shoe to a 7-1/2, lost 5 full pant sizes (6 if you include the size 14 jeans I just squeezed into Saturday) and I have lost 65.5 pounds as of this morning. All this in about 7 months. The FIRM is fantastic! You just have to hang in there until you get the moves down. Like Kim mentioned, when I first started I couldn't finish cardio sculpt with Allie. I would make it my goal to finish 20 minutes and then worked my way up. I only recently (in May) started using the whole 14" inch fanny lifter. The strength and toning will come and you will notice the visible results. I can't believe I squeezed my butt into a size 14 jeans and I'm still a little over 200 pounds! It's the power of the FIRM baby! :)

s&k'smom - thanks again for the concern. I even listened to my body (which is a little sore) and took a rest day today. I'm so sorry again about you losing your job and hope you find another one soon. I think it's just wonderful that you work out despite what's going on in your personal life. You are my inspiration!!!!

Kim - glad you got in a FIRM work out today! I don't have MCB + Abs. Stop being a bad influence on me to buy another work out tape. I've got 7 and that's plenty (or so I keep telling myself). It sounds like a fun one though. I'm sorry to disappoint Cathe and that without the two of us the entire production being scrapped. I guess we are "da bomb"!!!!! :)

Lisa!

(Said quietly as to not be accused of being an "enabler"): You just have to get MCB + Abs--it's excellent!!!:rolleyes1

Kim - I am just going to quietly back out of this thread like I didn't even read it! :teeth:

I did exercise today. I did Super Body Sculpt with Stephanie COrley today. I feel good

Good Morning all!

So far, today is a rest day, but I may get Cardio Sculpt Blaster in this evening. (Today is our garage saleing day so I will get lots of walking in!:D ) Yesterday, I did Calorie Killer. Whew! That section with the fanny lifter and the bicep curls, triceps, delt lifts, and overhead presses is tough!:crazy2: I was really sweatin' up a storm yesterday!:teeth:

Today was weigh-in and measurement day. Yikes!:earseek: I'm up .5 pound, and all my measurements are up 1 inch. If I am going to make goal (-30 lbs.) by September 1st, I really need to get moving.::yes:: I have 16 pounds to go and 8 weeks to do it in. I'm not sure I can do it, but just like my tag says... I think I can....I think I can...I think I can....:teeth:

Have a great day FIRMies!

Tracy:wave2:

FIRMIES!
I was so psyched yesterday. I had a business meeting half-way across the state. I remembered that there was a WalMart on the way. Traffic was so agreeable that I had plenty of time to stop & look for Calorie Killer. Alas, this WalMart had a pathetic selection of exercise tapes/DVDs. They had 1 VHS, 1 DVD & the box w/ fanny lifter. I was soooo disappointed. My pursuit of Calorie Killer, at a reasonable price, continues!
Yesterday morning was Super Body Blaster w/ Nancy needa burger. I really like this DVD, but I still struggle w/ her adaptation of leg press- i.e. traditional/slow & fast/little leaps. It's got to be good for shaping your thighs!
This AM was back to Lisa Kay & Cardio Sculpt Blaster. I love this tape, but I think I'm ready for a rest day because I was not happy with my performance. Since I'm looking at a long holiday weekend, I think Friday is off and hopefully, three long tapes for Sat., Sun., & Mon.
Follow-up on my earlier post about firmdirect. The billing was wrong. They agreed to fix it, but the scary part was that they had "fixed it" once before, but did it incorrectly. So watch your credit card billing, after using firmdirect. It's a shame because they are a good source for tapes/DVDs, but the shipping is really slow & the billing is dicey. But I'm still going to order, from firmdirect, the combo Ab Sculpt, Cardio Sculpt & Body Sculpt all on one DVD. For 19.99 minus my firmbeliever discount, I think it's worth a try.
Gazislover,
I've been exercising w/ weights for close to two years. I started w/ 2 CRUNCH tapes and then purchased the FIRM Parts 4pk. So I would say that I've been FIRMing for close to 18 mos. and have been doing exclusively FIRM tapes for over a year. I think that not every tape is for every person. When I started, I immediately bonded w/ "Upper Body" & really struggled w/ Standing Legs. I gave Standing Legs to a co-worker for over 6 mos. & when I got it back, I did much better with it. But it will never be one of my favorites. It really helped me to understand the difference between sculpting and cardio/aerobics. I did better w/ sculpting tapes and only recently started adding in more cardio tapes. Hope this info helps you to become a FIRMIE.
Have a happy & healthy day! SGG

I did total body sculpt plus abs today with Jennifer. I feel so good, I might go get on the treadmill for 30 minutes later on today.

I'm really enjoying reading about everyone's Firm histories. I hope to be able to get to the level of success you are sharing. It's very motivating:Pinkbounc :bounce: .

Yesterday- (Wed) 35 min on the treadmill and watched (no sound-had the cd player on) Body Sculpt with Jennifer. I want her arms! They are awesome- muscular yet feminine. Wonder how many years it will take?:teeth:

And tonight (Thurs) I did Cardio Sculpt with Allie again. It was a little easier to follow the 2nd time around- and I even used 3 lb weights for some of the upper body exercises. Hope I can lift my arms in the morning. But if I can get arms like Jennifer.... so worth the pain.

sueg-
About the Calorie Killer- Do you have a Kmart near you? Ours have the VHS and DVD. 6.99 & 7.99 I think- hope you can find it.

I now realize I bought all the videos from the 2nd set and they all come in the box with the Sculpting stick in the set at Target!:(
Wonder if I can find the stick by itself for less? I'm not really ready for it yet anyway- but hopefully soon.

Everyone have a great Friday (yeah its after midnight here now!)

I need to go get some of the other videos (I may just buy the 3 pack at firmdirect). I have a conference in Sept and I want to look amazing for it in a new suit. :)

The only thing that is concerning me is that all the girls are really muscular, I don't want to be huge and bulky muscular, I want to be slim... I have yet to lose any weight but I have lost an inch in my hips, not sure how that works but whatever! LOL

Yesterday I did Total Sculpt, tomorrow I do Complete. We finally set up our garage so now I can use my treadmill on rest days! YAHOO!! I am so motivated to lose this weight it's insane.

Hi all

Been a few weeks since I've been here last. Had lots of stuff going on between work and my sister's Bridal shower and just haven't been able to exercise like i wanted to. But excitement is over and I'm back with my FIRM tapes. Started with the AS yesterday and I'm thrilled to say I'm not nearly as rusty as I thought i'd be.

Anyhow I'll be around a bit more often now. It won't be hard to find exercise time now that my work schedule has settled into a routine. I haven't really gone through the whole thread for this week and i hope y'all are doing well.

Oh my darlings I'm back. This is my 2nd official day of being laid off and not being able to Dis everyday is killing me. To top it off I was so bad yesterday I felt like I was gonna be sick. A very valuable lesson. I should be able to check in again by next Tuesday.

Today was super cardio with Jen on the cover, it's an older tape but she, Allie, Libby and Jennifer all make an appearance. But lord is it tough. I kept thinking when is it going to end! And everytime I whined I just kept thinking of the bag of chips I ate.

October Bride I PM'd you.

Preshi I had to laugh I actually want to be a bit muscular it's a total vanity thing. Anyway I couldn't wait to touch base with you guys. I think about you and my friends on tagliarchy island all the time. I promise to check in next week. Keep you fingers crossed the job I am going after will allow me to Dis everyday as they have internet at the office. Have a safe and happy 4th.

Preshi~ Sounds like you are motivated and ready to go! Woohoo!:Pinkbounc

Julie~ Hey girl! I am with you! I want my arms to look like Jen's too. ::yes:: I often wonder how long it took her to get to that point? I have muscles in my arms now, but they aren't cut yet. We'll just keep working at it, right?!! Great job Julie!:bounce:

sm4987~ You are doing a great job! Keep up the good work!:Pinkbounc

sueg~ I hope you can find Calorie Killer soon. It is a great video! A little different than the other FIRM videos, but it is fun!:teeth:

Tracy:wave2:
