Firm Check in Week 18

Another Newbie here!
Thanks to Toystoryduo's (Hi Tracy:wave: ) encourgement in my journal, I have been reading the Firm week posts. I finally purchased Calorie Killer (only 6.99 on VHS at Kmart- I know some are looking). I need to know- it this about average for the other tapes? Because I am not the most coordinated person, and I found the footwork very confusing. So I just marched in place when I got lost. :teeth: I am going to try and slow mo it and figure out the moves though.:sunny:

I also bought the VHS Max Cario Burn Plus abs- I want to get a set with the stick and fanny lifter- right now I am using a broom handle and a long stepper I have from another system. I haven't opened this one yet because I think its in one of those sets -oh, but I just noticed a sticker about some coupons, so I may open it anyway!

I'd really like to work on my arms, I have bought some tank tops-first time in years I have exposed my arms this much. I need to firm the jiggle on my upper arms. So far my exercise has been treadmill and walks, so any Firm tape suggestions for this area would be great.

Sorry so long- I hope to be posting my firm successes really soon, and I appreciate all the advise and sharing you "Firmies" do!

Welcome Julie!!!:jumping1: I am so glad that you have decided to join us!!::yes::

When it comes to Calorie Killer, I think it is more challenging and unique than some of the other FIRM videos. For me personally, each video I have had certain challenges in the beginning, but with practice and repetition, I was able to "get it".

I think that you will do great with the FIRM! You have already done an amazing job and the FIRM will enhance your weight loss efforts!

Keep up the good work Julie or should I say, "Fellow FIRMie"?;) Have a great day!

Tracy:wave2:

I like calorie killer, but it does have some unique moves. I was so confused on those step moves::yes:: However, I won't be giving up. It is a good workout.

Welcome Julie, just be careful, you are going to become as addicted to the Firm as the rest of us.

It's funny we should be talking about new tapes, this am was Maximum Cardio Burn plus abs with Allie. This is about the 5th time I've done this tape and the best at it yet as I now have the moves down, so don't forget you guys, that I really think it takes a good half dozen times to get a tape down.

OMG we would be so bad if we got together but seriously let's look at next spring.

Good morning!
Today will be Calorie Killer with Nancy. DH is eating breakfast and watching the news so I thought I would DIS first. Have a great day!

Tracy:wave2:

Good afternoon FIRMies!

Juile - welcome to you!!! I agree with Tracy that it just takes doing the tapes over and over to get the routines down. Sometimes I find myself in the "zone" when I'm doing the step work on a work out and realize that I've totally lost my place and I'm on the wrong side of the stepper completely! You have to pay attention that is for sure.

You guys keep talking about calorie killer. I mentioned this one to a fellow FIRMie at work and she wants it now too. If I can find it, I'm picking up two (one for each of us). You guys are a bad influence! :)

This morning I did cardio sculpt blaster even though I wanted to say in bed. I'll share something with you guys that I read on another forum yesterday about exercise. The poster said that you don't have to be motivated all the time or feel like it to exercise. It's just something you do! Like paying bills, going to work or doing yard work. You just do it! Sometimes we have to look at exercise like that. That poster's comments really helped get me out of bed this morning. I hope this helps one of you when you're just not feeling like it.

Have a good afternoon everyone!:sunny:

Lisa~
Thank you for sharing that thought on exercise. I was just thinking about that this morning because I really didn't want to workout. I love my FIRM workouts, but there are days when I barely make it through. So, even though I may not want to, I just do it and feel much better afterwords. It will help to sometimes think of exercise as something that just has to get done... just like paying the bills.;) Thanks for that thought Lisa! It will help!!:Pinkbounc

:wave2: Hi all. I did Complete Aerobics plus weight training with Emily. I also kicked it up today with Taebo. I'm mixing up my workouts, so my body doesn't get used to just one thing. Got 3 new tapes in today and can't wait to try them.

Had a very stressful day at work today- stayed an extra hour to try to get caught up (I was out sick yesterday). Couldn't wait to get home and exercise. I did Calorie Killer and was able to follow a little better today!:Pinkbounc All the tension of the day was gone when I was done. I'm going to try to get some treadmill time in later tonight- but not too much, I stil need to go to work tomorrow!

That is so true. You just get up one day and don't want to work out, you do it and you feel so much better. Frankly I couldn't wait to work out this am as my two friends took me out for dinner last night and well it was badddd. But yummy!

This am was body sculpt blaster with Nancy (needs a burger) Tucker. You know I can't decide between Allie and her as my favorites. My two friends gave me a gift certificate to Walmart so needless to say going to go for a few new tapes!!!!

Good morning everyone!

I forced myself to take a rest day and just keep telling myself I need it. I need it. If it doesn't rain tonight DH and I will take a 30 minute walk. Tomorrow morning I'm back in the saddle again with super body sculpt.

s&k'smom - I agree with you that I can't decide if Nancy (needs to eat a burger) or Allie is my favorite. I'm partial to Stephanie Corley too. I wish I had a Walmart gift certificate! Let us know which new FIRM tapes you add to your collection.

Julie - good for you in getting that work out in! I can't wait to add calorie killer to my rotation!!!

Sheree - good idea to mix up your work outs. I'll have to remember that. Taebo is tough. Way to go with your exercise!!!!

Tracy - here I am encouraging everyone to get their work outs in and I take a rest day! I do feel like I need one day per week to give this poor old body a break. I keep forgetting I'm still over 200 pounds! Have a great day and a great work out!

I didn't firm today. I thought that I could use a break. However, I did get moving. I did Kathy Smith's kickboxing. I just can't seem to keep still, although my body was screming, no more weights please:teeth: ::yes::

Good evening all- I see I am probably the only evening exerciser I would love to do mornings- but I am not a morning person. Definitely a nite owl.
I did go ahead and get on the treadmill for 30 mins last night- and my legs weren't too sore today!:teeth:

I was going to try the only other Firm tape I have - Max Cardio Burn with Allie? but I got home late again tonight- so I attempted Calorie Killer again. I got a few more moves down- felt like I got a little more of a workout tonight.

I think I'll make tomorrow a Firm rest day and do the treadmill. I'm going out on the weekend to find some more tapes and a fanny lifter. (That sounds kind of weird!:teeth: )

Thanks all for keeping me movitivated and reading my newbie ramblings. LOL

Well I started working out this am and about 15 minutes into it DS woke up. It was one of the older tapes with Susan Harris. Lord have mercy she is tough. I'll give it a try again tomorrow. Next Wednesday I lose my job so if I don't check in everyday I will be thinking of you. I don't have a computer at home but my mom, sister and the public library's computers I can use and I have an old one they I may try to set up.

FIRMIES!
Yesterday was a rest day. After a dental appt. for DS, we headed to Catskills in NY so oldest DS could check out some colleges. What an exhausting day. I may not have FIRMed, but hiking thru rural campuses still gives you a bit of a workout. Just no four-limb movements.
This AM, it was Cardio Sculpt Blaster w/ Lisa. As the alarm went off at 5:30 AM, I had trouble getting out of bed & I remembered the line from ZerasPrides' post that exercise is just something you do, like paying bills. Well it's payday & I have some bills to pay, but I got out of bed and FIRMed, first. Thanks, ZerasPride!
Have a happy & healthy day! SGG

Good afternoon FIRMies!

sueg- I'm so glad what I said helped inspire you to get that work out in first today! It helped me too because I was tempted to stay in bed myself. Gotta pay those bills, gotta work out. I think they should add a third item to the old maxim, "the only 2 things that are constant in life are death and taxes". Let's add death, taxes and exercising!!!!!

This morning I did super body sculpt with Stephanie. It was great and I did 15, yes, count 'em, 15 manly man push ups. As you guys who have this work out know, the push ups are divided into two parts and I did 7 for the first part and then finished on my knees with the girlie push ups and for the second set I did 8 manly man push ups and then finished that set on my knees. I'm gettin' strong gals!!!! ::yes::

A FIRMie friend at work picked up 2 copies of calorie killer with Nancy (needs to eat a burger) Tucker last night, one for me and one for her. She said she watched it and it's too advanced for her. She said she didn't like the moves at all. I know we've got some reviews on our thread but I could use a little pep talk on this one ladies. Is it good a work out? Do you really like it? Thanks again for your reviews! I'll be giving it a try tomorrow morning.

gadizlover - I see that you did calorie killer again. What do you think of it?

s&k'smom - have I been living under a rock? I'm so sorry I didn't know you were losing your job. That is tough on you and your family I'm sure. Please take care and check in with us when and where you can. {{{{hugs}}}}

Lisa, I think you're copying me. Guess what I did this morning. Super Body Sculpt with Stephanie. Great for you with the push-ups cause they were hard. This was my first time doing this workout and I liked it. My legs are burning.

Have a great day everyone.

Lisa Lisa!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I'm going to play the role of cheerleader today and give you a big (as Cathe says), "OH YES YOU CAN!" You can do Calorie Killer! Do not even go into it thinking you can't handle it! Need A Burger's choreography is a little more complex, a bit jumpier, unique and faster paced, BUT.... didn't you think that of many other FIRMs when you first started?! Hmmmmm.....come on now.....did you ever think you'd be doing 15, count 'em 15 Manly Man push-ups?! Did you ever think you'd be doing all those leg presses on a full 14 inch Fanny Lifter?! I bet you are at a level physically that you'd never thought you'd be! Don't look back, babe--give CK a try! I think it's a bit more of a challenge both mentally and physically, but that is a definitely what you want--jazz things up a bit! Like anything else, given a little bit of time, I think you'll really come to enjoy the added intensity and varied choreography. Please remember that I'm saying this as someone who couldn't even keep up when I heard the phrase "beginners follow Libby!":) Modify, modify, modify if you have to, and enjoy all the new ways your body and mind will be challenged! I know you will not let yourself get discouraged, Lisa--new challenges are a piece of cake for you now! I know too much about your motivation, desire and character. THERE IS NOTHING YOU CANNOT DO!

Double-knot your shoelaces and pop in that workout, Lisa! You are up for it! You are up for anything!

Much love & hugs WISH Sis!

P.S. I did a new Cathe workout this morning and it had some Cardio Sculpt music in it! Made me smile! :)

Kim, my WISH-sis - with encouragement like this, how can I not be excited about trying calorie killer in the morning. I was really doubting whether I could do this or not but you are right, I'm always nervous about a new FIRM work out. I never thought I would master super body sculpt or super cardio sculpt and now these are my favorite work outs!

I will definitely report back and let you guys know if I survived Nancy (eat a burger) Tucker's calorie killer! Woohoo!!!!!

P.S. Glad you liked your work out this morning Kim, you know you're my work out "shero"! ::yes::
