Share with me the BEST spots to view the fireworks and how early you stake out your spot for them? ( we will be there for firework on a Friday in September)
TIA

I like to watch the fireworks from Main Street. Somewhere between the Camera Shop and the Partner's Statue (anywhere in that area is good). I usually aim to get there about 45 minutes early.

The most popular spots are between the Partner's Statue and the Castle. I've seen people sitting there hours before the show starts.

Another popular spot is over by Small World Mall. I tried to watch them there once, but that was a night when they were cancelled due to wind!

I stand at the railing in front of the flagpole at the foot of Main St about 10 mins before it starts. I can't see tinker bell very well, but otherwise it's great and easy to escape the park after.

Just off the sidewalk a little in front of the camera shop where they put the ropes for a cross walk. Ask a CM nearby to point out the holes in the road for the poles. About 20 min before.

At WDW you can get a different and great view of the fireworks. I know they close a lot of things off back there, but is there a viewing place back there?

Are the rides still operating during the fireworks? We spent 1 day at DL in 2005 and the fireworks were going on while we were on the Casey Jr. circus train. When we got off we watched them a bit as we walked to the next ride. It's sounding like maybe now rides close down and people actually stake out locations to watch from??

You can usually walk up between the partners statue and the stores on main st about 5-10 minutes before the show. About that time they make everyone sitting stand up so there is a lot of unused space. If you sit between the partners statue and the castle I feel like you are too close to the castle to see the show good. That is my personal opinion anyway.

At DL, the Fantasyland area behind the castle closes during fireworks. I know the Snow White, Peter Pan, Mr. Toad, the Carousel, and Alice do not operate. I don't know about things like Dumbo, which are further back.

In terms of views from behind the castle, most folks head towards Small World Mall.

Thanks for everyone help! Lots of great advice. It sounds like people really stake out there spots early than I would have expected. We were hoping to avoid that because our 3 year old who can't sit for hardly any period of time... But I love the idea of waiting till everyone stands up and sneaking in if that's makes more room! Good to know :)
