Where is a quieter place to view wishes or illuminations? My son loves watching fireworks but the noise terrifies him. Is there a quieter place to watch them? We will be staying at POR but I can pretty much take him anywhere to view them. I just need to be far enough away that the noise wont be an issue.

My son is also sensitive to the sound of the fire works...I can tell you there is nowhere far enough away.

We always bring shooters ear protectors (they look like head phones). They muffle the sound enough that he's actually able to be in the park when they start.

Good Luck.

A lot of people have reported success with the ear-protectors that DIS-NH mentioned.

Also, I believe you can see at least some of Wishes from some parts of the hotels around the lagoon (e.g. the beach at FW), but there is sometimes some contention as to whether non-resort guests should use these areas or not. Of course, if you did use the area, I doubt anyone would actually notice, but I don't want to start a fight on this thread, so will say nothing more about it :ssst: (please nobody hurt me :duck:!).

I've seen numerous people wearing small swimmer's ear plugs. I don't know how much they help, but they must offer some protection and they are very compact to carry all day. One of the loudest places to be during Epcot's fireworks is in the Boardwalk area - as the noise bounces off the Swan/Dolphin. For a slight improvement at Epcot, you can stand on the far side of the pathway and sit on the curb. You can actually see pretty well. A small thing that might help slightly (desensitizing) is to go on the Mexico ride right before Illuminations starts as there are light fireworks (almost no sound) in the ride. One we came out of Mexico and the fireworks were just starting and that seemed to help in our family - as the ones in the ride were a way to see 'fireworks' that weren't scary.

Magic Kingdom's fireworks can be heard all over the park.

You can see the Epcot fireworks from the Marriott World Center. This may not work for you, but if you have a room on the correct side, you can see the fireworks farther up is a better view) - with minimal sound.

I don't know if this is still allowed, but could you watch the MK fireworks from the Contemporary or the beach at the Polynesian? We were guests at the Contemporary in 2006 but even that was too close for DD but the Poly (we were there for dinner and walked out just as the firewords started) was perfect.

maybe I will plan dinner at the poly just for wishes one night. I will also check on the ear plugs. Thanks

You may call and see if you can time a carriage ride at Fort Wilderness to coincide with wishes. From what I understand, there is a spot where than can stop that has a great view.

At Epcot, I have found that the restrooms near the Odyssey building offer a great view, without the crowd or the loudest sounds. It is not silent, but not too loud.

Good luck.

That's where I was going to suggest. As an added advantage, you can go into the bathroom if it's too overwhelming.

My 8 yo loves watching fireworks but CANNOT handle the noise. We use the foam earplugs and that does help him.

The beach at the Poly is a good view for Wishes and I don't know where you're staying but at the Caribbean Beach Resort you can see Illuminations

Unless I get one of those nifty codes in the mail we will be at POR, if I can get that 40% off code everyone is talking about, I think we will stay at the Poly. I am losing hope on that one though.

Don't lose hope. Mine came in the mail this past Monday.

I have an 8 year old that also hates loud noises, but he has no other disabilites, just FYI. But the view from C-Grill was perfect. We got to eat, watch the fireworks and no noise :thumbsup2

As I have said before we are walking in the same shoes. We watch Epcot's fireworks from the parking lot. When we go to MK we get on the monorail before they start and then when we get off at Tickets and Transportation we go over by the lake and watch. No problem either place with the noise.

I was going to suggest the Ticket and Transportation Center, but I wasn't sure you could see anything from there. Thanks for posting how it works for you.
