While watching the 4th of July fireworks last night here at home.....all I could think about was......where's the music? where's the lasers? Everyone was "oooh-ing" and "aaaah-ing" and I thought "yeah right, you don't know what REAL fireworks are!"
My DH and I are feeling so anxious now to go to Disney.....

126 days to go.....

Anyone else disappointed in theirs?

Well, when comparing things to disney, it's very easy to be dissapointed with a lot of things. Food, hotels, theme parks (six flags, ect), shopping, entertainment. You've just gotta take things for what they are. I know not to expect lasers at the Oklahoma City fireworks display, and so I just take it for what it is, and have a fun time.

We were pretty impressed by the fireworks in Cary, NC. I would say that their display rivaled Wishes in quantity and quality of shells. The display itself was phenomenal - very well done, with good spacing. They even had hearts, stars and happy faces!

However, I did miss the music. Every time they shot off the shells and I heard the initial "phwumph", all I could think about was the sorcerer mickey bit in Wishes. When I was a kid, the displays would play patriotic music during the fireworks, and they had some timing to them (though not a ton). While this display could rival Wishes in the fireworks themselves (and probably in the cost), without the music, the emotional impact just wasn't there.

And without the music, it was long enough to get bored with.

Mur!

We opted not to go to the fireworks this year. The ones we like to go to always hold them on the Saturday closest to the 4th and not on the 4th. (Silly.) They do a pretty good display though ... not WDW but decent and they have background music.

Last night we watched the Macy's on on TV ... it was pretty impressive and I would have loved to see them in person.

Living so close to DC we should go to the Mall just once to see them ... but I HATE crowds!

We were watching fireworks from our van last night and just happened to have the Illuminations cassette with us. It wasn't the same as being at Disney, but it sure helped. ::MinnieMo

Having just returned on Saturday from a trip that included Wishes twice, Illuminations twice (including once from the Breathless), and Universal 360 (no Fantasmic! because of weather and other choices), we had no desire to see our local displays. As other posters have said, so much of the impact of the Disney shows comes from the music that goes along with the fireworks. It's all so evocative -- there's something about Disney music that just reaches inside of you. Sigh...wish I was back in Epcot!

Epcotking.....

I guess I didn't explain myself very well. I meant that I just miss Disney and it made it more so watching the fireworks last night. I'll be there soon!!!
