We are having a late dinner at the Wave and I was thinking we might go to the bridge between the 2 resorts to watch the fireworks and not have to rush back over to the park. Anyone watched from there?

Since it can be a bit slippery there in the rain they have tried to put up frosted glass panels to make it harder to watch from there. You best choices for viewing are: the 4th floor observation deck at the CR (same level as the bridge), going through the bridge to the BLT building and watching from a picture window at the elevators(no music pipped in), watching from the parking lot (the best view from here is near the convention center), or assuming you are a DVC member- going to the first floor of BLT and being escorted up to the lounge.

Thank you rlovew! We are DVC owners but we have our dd14 with us and didn't think the lounge would work. Do they have blackout dates up there do you know? We would be there on 12/30. We are trying to avoid the crush in thr park that night if we can.

Assuming you are staying at BLT, I wouldn't worry about taking your daughter up there. We see kids up there all the time. There is an outside viewing area that is not in the TOT lounge area. But, even in the lounge I have seen kids.

I was thinking that would be the case supersnoop. Do you think the 4th floor observation deck after dinner is a good idea?

What time is dinner? Where are you staying? Fireworks on 12/30 are at 11:48 PM. If the 4th floor deck is your only option, then it's the best option. If you're staying somewhere on the monorail loop, there are better options; the TTC, Poly beach and GF dock. But those may not be accessible or convenient depending on where you're staying.

Is the 4th floor observation deck open again? It's been closed the last couple time we were there.

We have reservations at the Wave at 8:40 that night and will be at MK for the evening arriving at the park at about 3pm. My choices are to 1) just stay at MK and deal with the crowd, 2) dinner at the Wave and then see the fireworks outside the park. I had heard the TTC was a good place to see them also. We are staying at Saratoga this trip so will need to get back there. MK is open til 3 am that night so we could go back in for a bit but I imagine the crush leaving after will be intense.

What do you plan to do for the roughly two hours after you finish dinner before the fireworks start?

You'll have to join the crowds at the bus stop to get back to SSR.

If you would really go back to MK, is go back after dinner, watch the fireworks from inside, and hang out until most of the crowd clears. I don't think any other viewing location makes sense with these circumstances.

it was closed the early part of Dec - and never saw anyone working there. so doubt it will be opened next week.

I like to watch from the sidewalk between both resorts - in the right place you can heard the music - that is if the music is playing on the 4th floor. (our 5th floor)

I thought a very small portion of the 4th floor CR observation deck was open and not blocked off when we were there earlier this month? I thought I remember seeing people out there when we walked by one night.

The panels definitely block the majority (maybe all?) of the viewing on the bridge

there was a section but through there was stuff in the seats? - never saw alone out there.

The windows at each end of the contemporary are being worked on, structural inspection, repair, and resealing. The deck may still be closed until the work is completed.
