Well, for a comparison, I just tested my computer (I'm on vacation, and can't remember what my normal numbers are), and got these results:

Wow that is a difference. It would be interesting to see how those that score so high if they also have a higher speed. I really feel like I am maxed out on my high score.

Well, if you have noticeable lag issues, then that can really hurt your game - I know this from experience. Not sure if you have lag? Well, walk from one side of the lobby to the other...if your avatar walks smoothly all the way across, then you aren't showing obvious signs of lag. If in game, check the flight path of any given firework - is it smooth or does it hiccup. When the star appears in the firework, does it rotate smoothly or does it quickly disappear with almost no rotation?

If lag isn't the issue, then go for flawless hits. If you don't get any combinations, but get all flawlesses, your score should still be halfway decent. I usually tell people to not worry about the combinations if they haven't mastered getting flawless hits. One thing at a time...

Also, there are websites dedicated to testing the latency of your connection. I recommend going to one of them just to see what they say about your connection. The one I frequent most is http://www.speedtest.net.

I just wanted to thank GoofyGeggy for sharing the video. It along with the tips by Alias and stichers finally paid of for me last night with not only another green car, but also a score over 8,000.

Great video! It definitely offered me insight although not any that helps me out since what I learned is that I've been doing the right thing all along but I guess my connection and/or mouse sucks.

I swear that when I click on the star it is always too late and nothing happens if I wait that long. I tried again and my score wasn't improved. I still can't seem to break 2000.

Well, at least I know now that I'm playing the game right. I just don't think with this computer I will ever get a very high score. Thanks for the video though.

Thanks so much goofygeggy for making this video! And thanks LoriR for posting it! It has helped me so much I have broken my personal Fireworks record of 3987 with 4578! Also I was wondering, GoofyGeggy what kind of internet do you use? I took that SpeedTest and got horrible results!
