Hey everyone,

In two weeks we're going to Universal studios and Islands of adventure.
Can someone tell me if there's fireworks or another evening-event as they have in Disneyworld?

thanks, onslow

Fireworks start July 4 and will continue all though July.

Thank you very much for your reply and help.
Do you also know where the fireworks takes place and on what time?

thx, onslow

Fireworks take place around 950 or 955 at the lagoon in USF and the lagoon in IOA.

Will there be fireworks at Islands this year? All my AP newsletter says is fireworks at Universal Studios.

There's nothing like riding the Hulk during the fireworks show. Can't wait to do it again this year! :cool1:

So both parks have their own shows? I didn't realize that. Is one particularly better than the other, or are they both worth catching?

We had initially planned on only hitting Universal one night for the fireworks, but maybe we'll need to replan...

Oh, and slightly off topic, is it worth skipping Mystify over at SW for?

(yes, we're planning a weekend JUST to see fireworks. So?)

They are totally different.

IOA has more of a 4-part story with its fireworks, while USF has movie music and fireworks to match the music.

Looks like we'll be hitting the parks two nights in a row then.

(I can't believe I'm actually going down there in the summer. I'm usually an off season junkie)

Thanks, DM

/edited because I didn't realize the W word was verbotten

So you're saying fireworks will be in both parks every night? Last year they were at US and the year before at IOA. Just curious. Thanks.

On July 4th the fireworks were in both parks and Citywalk. From July 5- Aug. 13 they will have nightly fireworks at 9:50 PM only in Universal Studios.

At 9:30 PM each night, guests at Islands of Adventure will be able to cross over to Universal Studios for free to catch the fireworks show. So if you don't have a park hopper that day, you will still be allowed to go to Universal to watch the fireworks.

Just got back from our trip and watched the fireworks show at USF both nights.

The best place to watch, is in front of BTTF. Why? Because they shoot off a bunch of shells from behind MIB. Most of the action happens in the lagoon, with 5 pods that shoot up smaller fireworks set to music. But at the end of the show, the area behing MIB goes crazy during the finale.

Thanks for the tip on location for fireworks viewing. What time is a good time to get there for optimum viewing spots?

The show starts at exactly 09:50. It doesn't really matter when you show up. 09:30 would be fine so you can get a drink, and go to the bathroom. Most food stands close at 09:30, so if you want something, get it before this time. Laurie wanted ice cream, and the window closed at 09:40 just as she walked up, whaaa. They could make more money if they stayed open until the end, but oh well. They play some really cool fusion jazz music before the show, so you'll be entertained while waiting.

There are only a couple fireworks that happen in the lagoon itself, where the pods shoot up white sparkle things. Everything else goes high up into the air, so you'll see it no matter where you are standing.

And there's no rush to leave afterwards. We took our time walking out, made it thru the gate with no problem, then walked on the path back to the RPR.
