In the past we have always been lucky enough to go the the parks on arival day. In a cost cutting move we are buying 10 day non expireing MYW tickets and stretching them in to 2 trips (one next year and one...?? Who knows, but the tickets will be paid for.)

That leave us with only 5 days to go to the parks so we will not be using one up the night we arrive. And we have one non park day planned. So...

What are some of the best spots to enjoy (any of) the fireworks on nights you will not be going to the parks?

I remember (from the year we were lucky enough to stay there) watching the fireworks from a boat dock. It was awesome, there was an inlet that was lined up directly with the fireworks at MK and the display and reflection was great!

Then we watched them once from the roof of the Contemporary after Chef Mickeys... that was very cool, we have some neat photos and memories from that. Now I think you need to be dining at the California Grill to use the roof access.

We were also playing minigolf one year and were caught off guard when fantasmic seemed to be going off right behind us.

None of that is by chance, it's cool the way they design everything down there!

What are some more places?

We stay at the Ft.W cabins and you can watch the fireworks from the beach there.

A fun thing to do at night is to go to the Ft.W sing-along campfire and movie. We usually go for the sing-along, make smores and then watch the cartoon, not staying for the whole movie because we want to get a good night sleep for the next day.

Thanks. The beach at FW.

On the camp fire, we did that for the first time last year.

It's was fun, laid back and friendly. We ate at the trails end buffeteria (GREAT!) then did the sing a long and watched Toy Story (1 or 2, can't recall) The boat ride over and bus ride back were both fun for the boys as well. (3 trips to the world and it was their first time on the bus) My overall review was something like this... on a camping trip or any other vacation it might be the highlight of it, but at WDW knowing all of the high pace, high tech and high pyro stuff going on during the hours we spent there made me thankful that we were on (what we consider) a long trip. But for that review we had APs and had the option to do a park or that so I guess thats different. For a non park night (which was sort of the point of this post) it may be one of your better options.

Park at the Ticket and Transportation Center and take the Ferry Boat to MK right at Fireworks time. The ferry won't be crowded and it allows a nice view of the fireworks from MK.

We always try to arrive in Orlando on Friday or Saturday afternoon, and then go to Ohana's for dinner. If we can't time dinner to watch the fireworks from the restaurant, we walk down to the beach after dinner, and watch them from there.

For IllumiNations fireworks from EPCOT, go to Pop Century (you'll have to park near Centennial Hall, which is the guest parking) and walk over to the 50s building. Go beyond the pool area to the far side of the buildings, next to Hourglass Lake (the unfinished portion of PC is across the lake). Find a bench and relax and enjoy the higher fireworks!

MK fireworks from the Polynesian Resort or Grand Floridian Resort beach. Hammocks and other seating are reserved for resort guests, and during busy times, access may be restricted to resort guests. Otherwise, go for it!

You won't have the full effect of either programme, but it's still lovely! :)
