I posted on another forum and I got a reply saying you could see the Wishes show from the beach at FW. We are staying at the cabins and this would be just wonderful. Has anyone else done this too? Will we lose anything by not hearing the music? :charac2:

Thanks!
Melissa

Its really fun to see the fireworks from the beach. We do that everytime we are there. But you need to see Wishes up close in person as well to get the full effect.

In my opinion, you loose alot by not hearing the music and story. Plus you are kind of at a weird angle when you see them from the beach so they don't seem like the same fireworks. BUT, if you can't get over to MK and see them up close, any fireworks are better than none.

I agree, you really do need to see Wishes in the Mk at least once, but it's always fun to catch the fireworks as a little extra if you are at the beach. Also they do the electric boat parade at the beach every night at 9:45pm. we were there at Christmas and we could actually see some of the fireworks from our campsite in the 1500 loop- that was great, we even watched them in bed on night ( it was really cold that night! 32 degrees!) and we just unzipped our window on our pop-up a little to watch from under our blankets.
LLagow :moped:

I didn't think you could see them that well from WL, too much in the way (Contemp and a lot of trees.) I don't remember being able to see them when we were there last trip.

We did however go over to Poly and wacth them. That is one of my favorite things to do. It is not the same as being in the park (or even on the observation deck at Cont) but is good. It is really good if you have a young child, lots of freedom for them to play and not so close that it isn't too loud or overwelling.

The previous posters are right about needing to be at the MK to get the full effect of the Wishes show. However, the fireworks are still great and worth viewing from FW. Based on a suggestion from a previous thread, we tried out a new area to view the fireworks on our most recent visit. This works best if you have a golf cart. Go to the back of the 300 loop. There is a little side road that is the entrance to the pet walk area there. You can park your cart there, and take a short walk over the bridge, and you will be at the edge of the lake. From there, you can see space mountain and the castle in the distance. The fireworks are more visible from here because Discovey Island is not in your way. Before this, we would always drive our cart to the beach and watch the fireworks from there. You can see the fireworks OK, but some of the lower ones are blocked by the trees on Discovery Island. The advantage to going to the beach area is that you can stay on your golf cart if you want to. The kids also like playing in the sand, but that can also be a bad thing (sandy kids, that is) right before bed time.

We were not able to see the show from the cabin loops, too many trees. Need to head towards the beach a bit.

We used to drive down to the beach on our golf cart and sit and watch the fireworks. Can't do that anymore.

Then we sat at the tables by the dock. That was cool.

Another place to consider is the walk from loop 300, along the canal back to the little cabin (a pic of the cabin will soon appear here from our great moderator ... maybe).

Of course being at MK is better, but watching from FW is pretty neat, and a lot more convenient ... and you can have a beer while watching, unless its 32 degrees.

Edit: I see now this was already mentioned (the 300 loop trail), didn't pay attention.

For a real treat, rent a Wishes Cruise. Once you have seen Wishes from the Seven Seas Lagoon you will be spoiled. OH and they pipe the music to the boat speakers so you don't miss anything except the crowds.

RocklandRVers,

Could you tell me more about the Wishes Cruise. How much is it, where do you reserve it, how long does it last, etc. My DH and I are going down next Saturday for 8 days and I would love to do that on our 30th Anniversary if it's not too late to book it.

Rapriebe,

We did a Wishes cruise in August, and there was no music piped in. I think that the Grand Gathering Cruise has the music piped in, but the regular Wishes Cruise (for 11-12 people) did not.

We loved the Wishes cruise, (beautiful summer night boat ride with good friends) but the view and experience of Wishes was much better from inside the MK.

To book a cruise, you must call Disney Recreation exactly 90 days before your intended cruise date. Not only must you call 90 days in advance, but you must also call the minute they open the phone lines. (7:00 EST)
If you look on the "Theme Park Attraction" board there is a sticky thread that explains the entire process in detail. Even though you have past the date to call, this does not mean you cannot acquire a cruise...You may be able ot split one with a fellow Diser, or be lucky enough to find one that has been cancelled. Check out the thread.

Another alternative is to make a PS at California Grill for about a half hour before Wishes. You may then go outside on the observation deck and watch Wishes there!

Have a wonderful Trip and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

OK all you FW experts, I have a question.

I was thinking of watching the Wishes fireworks from the beach (we'll catch the 'real' show another day) and then catching the campfire sing a long. I have no idea where the beach is in relation to the campfire sing a long or how I would get from point A to point B. PLUS, I'd be coming from the Beach Club Villas so how would I get to the beach?

Any tips would be most appreciated. If it doesn't seem doable, we'll scrap it but it was a last minute idea.

Thank you!

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Our pontoon boat fit 10 passengers and cost us about $130 including tax. It was just the 3 of us and the driver. Maybe it was something new as of our cruise, but we had the Wishes music piped in on our pontoon boat.

First we took a little tour around Bay Lake and the CM told us a little history and trivia about FtW, WL, the Villas, Contemporary, etc. Did you know for example that the architect designed WL to look like a bear from the water? Its true if you look at it from the perspective on the lake.

Then we drove over one of two water bridges on Disney property to Seven Seas Lagoon (most bridges transport cars over water and boats go under them. This one transported boats over a road and cars went under it) Do you know where the other water bridge is located? In SSL we went around to the Poly and GF. Then took up a spot out in the lake lined up with City Hall and Cinderellas Castle.

The CM warned us we would be spoiled seeing and hearing the show like this and he was so right! You see the fireworks and castle lighting effects from a nice distance that shows a lot more detail than up close in the park. Then you see the monorails coming and going along with all the activity in the park itself which all adds to the Disney effect. My DW and DS loved me for splurging on the cruise :love1:
