Fireworks from Port or Starboard?

From which side can you see the fireworks. DH says we were on the right side (starboard) last time and we couldn't see the fireworks from our verandah. So, this time we have a left side room (port) which means we should be able to see the fireworks from our verandah this time right?

In January we were on the Dream in 8620- starboard side and watched the fireworks from our balcony.

Check your old stateroom numbers under your previous cruises to make sure your hubs has your stateroom number/ side right.

On our Dream cruise the end of the January they were from the Starboard side. :)

We are on the Port side. I am under the impression we are not supposed to be on the balcony for the fire works. Is it ok to be on our balcony? If so I'm switching to Starboard.

Ive been on 9 Disney cruises. . . . every time fireworks have been starboard side. Never had a verandah, so cant answer about being out there during the fireworks.

We did receive a letter in our stateroom the morning of the fireworks asking that we remove all personal belongings from the balcony and keep our verandah door closed. It went on to ask that if we remained in the room that we stay indoors.

My husband is a bit of a rebel so we did watch from the balcony and I know that many other families on our side of the ship did as well..but you should make your own decision as to what is right for you and your family.:flower3:

I will say the fireworks were directed out over the water and were shot off from a higher deck. We kept our verandah door closed and we didn't have anything on the balcony...besides ourselves of course!

The request to stay indoor's and keep the verandah door close is because when DCL first started out firing firework's from the ship, one piece of product misfired and didn't completely clear the ship and was blown back onboard into the Mickey Pool. The firework's were discontinued for a few year's afterwards.
They were introduced back in very late 2004 and there has also been another subsequent misfire where the product landed near to Palo and started a fire there........

pixiepenny said, "but you should make your own decision as to what is right for you and your family." but I think you should heed the warning and do what is asked. But everyone has to make their own decision for themselves and those with them.

I really want to see the fireworks from my verandah! But, I also want to follow the rules. ;)
I'm going to keep my Port side room so I'm not even tempted come Pirate night. :goodvibes

I am confused. How would standing on deck, like near the Mickey pool, be safer if there is a misfire?

Maybe because certain area's are monitored and cordoned off, or because the smoke drifting across the ship in the wind could set off the Stateroom smoke alarms if verandah door's are open?

The best bet is to ask that question to DCL as it is their requirement.
