Can you see the fireworks from the beach at Poly? If so, and I am staying at SOG am I allowed to sit by the beach area and watch the fireworks? My son hates the sound of the fireworks and I figured this would be a good way to watch them without a lot of noise.

Thanks!

Yes you can see Wishes from the beach at the Polynesian. There is also the Electrical Water Parade that's cute to watch too.

I would say that the beach at the Polynesian is the absolute BEST view of the fireworks - and I've seen them from the MK, from the GF and from California Grill...
The view is dead-on, with the display framing Cinderella's Castle. It is beautiful!
I also like it for the exact reason you mention it. My DD(8) is terrified by the noise of the fireworks and watching them from a distance makes it enjoyable for her.
I have watched the f/w from the Polynesian beach as both a guest of the resort and a visitor (having had dinner at 'Ohana);
Go and ENJOY~

it was so relaxing and less hassle esp'ly if you have lil ones less worry of you losing them. We did it last April 18th some of us we had dinner 1st at the O'hana and some of our friends met us at the beach. So I think it is OK to do it there even if you are just going to see fireworks since nobody question out friends when they went there. There's a counter service on the same level so if you need some snakc for you kid it is also accesable ! Have fun and Enjoy!!!

There are signs on the beach saying it is "for the use of Polynesian Resort guests only" --- however, if you are using the resort reataurants, such as 'Ohana - I don't see there being an issue :) The view is wonderful!

This is slowly becoming one of those hot button topics like pool hopping and refillable mugs. Here is a picture of the sign Frances999 mentioned (re-posted from a Ducklite response to a similar thread)

. I don't claim to be the morality police, so I'll just show the information that I have and let everyone decide on their own whether to sit on the beach or stand on the public pathway.

You can also see them from the great house. I also think they piped in the music but I don't remember for sure. We had a window view from O'hano and loved watching the castle change colors.

Tammi's right. This can be a hot topic. I am not interested in getting into a debate over it I just will share what our personal experiences have been. The first time we watched the fireworks from the Poly beach it was at the suggestion of our cousin at 'Ohana where we had dinner that evening. Then I read the conflicting opinions about it here and so when we went to dine at Ohana last summer after dinner I went to the front desk and asked to speak to a manager. I asked him what the policy was and if it was ok since we weren't staying there and he was VERY nice (I should have gotten his name) and said we were welcome to tour the entire Poly grounds including the beach. He said they have problems with the pools getting crowded but that they don't usually have a problem with the beach. Neither time we have been has the beach been crowded. That being said I would stay away for events like on the 4th of July and also when we're there we don't take up hammocks or their lawnchairs. I have no problem parking my hiney in the sand. I think if people use common courtesy MOST guests will not be bothered. The pool is different IMO but I'm not going there. :moped:

Thanks for the replies. I was kind of worried about even asking the question, I really didn't want to start a debate. I wouldn't use the pool at the resort and we would probably go at the end of August or Sept. I was just going to bring a towel for us to sit on the beach & watch. Maybe I will just ask when I get to the Poly. I normally will walk from SOG & catch the monorail.

I wanted to go ahead and put my two cents worth in here, too! We usually stay at Poly conceirge / lagoon view. That gives us the perfect view right from our room and we can see the beach from the room also. Usually the beach area isn't very crowded for the water parade or for the fireworks. Like one other poster mentioned, this has got to be the most awesome viewing area. It's a straight view to the castle.

In my opinion if you were to go to watch the fireworks, and quietly went about your business, no one would even know. I don't think anyone would bother you unless, of course, you were doing something that would call attention to your group. I'd say go for it. The worst thing that can happen is someone may tell you it's for resort guests only and may ask you to leave...but I highly doubt if that would be the case!
