I understand you can see the fireworks at MK from the beach at the Poly. We are staying at AKL. If we eat dinner at the Poly can we wander down to the beach to see the fireworks or is it only for Poly guests?

Watching the fireworks from the Poly beach is absolutely beautiful. You can even hear the music because they pipe it in.

Don't miss Electrical Water Pageant, too. It's every night in front of the Poly dock at 9PM, except when Wishes is at 9, then it immediately follows Wishes. A wonderful, tho short, totally Disney show.

When we were there last week, there was no music piped in on the beach for Wishes? They did have the music piped in for The E.W.P though.

Tikiman,
Did you watch Wishes from your room or the beach last week? The one night we sat on the beach and watched there was no music.

The music for the EWP comes right from the floats, that's why it can be heard from the beach. We saw it there while sitting on a swing on the beach. We had dinner at 'Ohana then strolled down.

We didn't attempt Wishes from the Poly beach but did enjoy it from the 4th floor obeservation deck at CR, and they do have the music there. It's located past the gift shops and there's a door on the far left that leads you out.

I'm also told that the Wishes soundtrack can be heard from the boat dock at the GF.

There are signs on the beach stating that the beach area is for the exclusive use of Polynesian Resort guests. However, if you are dining at 'Ohana and if the beach is not too busy with resort guests it should be okay :)

The Beach was never that busy at night. You shouldn't have a problem.

The music from the MK is definitely piped in but it's not loud like the EWP. If there is alot of people on the beach your not going to hear the music.
That sign is always there saying Poly guests only but it never stops anyone because nobody checks resort ID's. I guess management hopes that some would abide but they don't. I can't tell you how many times while sitting at the pool I'll see a big crowd and then find out their not even staying there but came because they wanted to use the pool.

One night there was no music but the rest there was music at the pool and the speakers at the beach were on also but down very low. They also have the music in the concierge lounge I believe (or use to) and up in 'Ohana.

Aloha

Steve

Definitely you can hear the music if your in O'Hana because I remember one night having dinner there and we had a great table and watched the fireworks from our table and I could hear the music.
I already have a PS scheduled for O'Hana and I can't wait!! I just love the food there.

we watched from the beach and our balcony and there were a few nights when we couldnt hear the music. But the Concierge lounge does indeed pipe music in.

i am of the opinion that eating at one of the Poly restaurants makes you eligible to watch fireworks at the beach. You are a resort guest for the time you are in the restaurant, no? ... I think it counts.

If they truly want to make it for Poly guests only, they would gate it off with a key card.

See ya on the beach, October 23rd :)

If you are eating there I think it should be fine to watch the fireworks.

No you are not a guest of the entire resort from the time you are in the restaurant and if you are on the grounds you are not in the restaurant are you? Otherwise all you would have to do is get a reservation for Kona to go use the pool. They are not and hope they never gate everything off that is guest use only or are we saying people are not smart enough to read signs and follow rules.

Again I believe there is no harm in walking down and watching the fireworks when you are there to eat but the whole resort is not for your use just because you eat there.

You will love watching the fireworks from the beach at the Poly. We are staying there soon and that is one of the most wonderful things about the Poly to me. Also the Water Pageant is fun to watch too..::yes::

They haven't done this any other place, why start here? Signs indicate it is for the use of the guest of the Polynesian. Just like the signs at all the Disney pools are for the guests of that resort.

You mean like the Yacht and Beach club?

We are talking about the BEACH, not the POOL. Yes, everyone knows that the pool at the Y & B club is gated. We were not talking about the POOL. There are signs up and down the beach at the Poly that the BEACH is for POLY GUESTS ONLY. To me that means that the beach can only be used by people PAYING to stay at the Poly.

interesting.

all this time (before this thread) I had no idea that the beach was for poly guests only. Everyone kept telling me to go see the fireworks from the Poly beach, but "sign after sign" seems kinda serious to me.

so I'll rethink our Poly plans, but I'm curious...

Are there any other resort amenities (besides pools) that are specifically for "that resort only"? Like garden walks, water sport rentals, carriage rides, geysers, etc? I don't want to be surprised when I get there, to find that I'm not welcome because I'm staying at the POFQ :)

this newbie thanks you for the information :sunny:

FINALLY! Someone else who understands the Polynesian Beach rule!! Sometimes I think I'm the only one who realizes the signs on the beach. I totally agree. How would you feel if you were paying almost $400/night to stay at the Poly and could not get a hammock or chair on the beach because they were all taken up by guests not even staying at the resort?!
