fireworks for july 4th?

We are going to be at Disney during the 4th this year (our first time on the 4th) so I can not speak from experience yet, but I can tell you what I have heard. MK has had fireworks on the 3rd as well as the 4th. Many people say avoid the MK on the 4th though for it is so crowded that they sometimes close the park by early afternoon. Epcot and MGM both have special fireworks on the 4th also. I am sure someone who has gone will give more info. HTH in the meantime. :sunny:

was down once for 4th...hot as bleeeeep! and crowded and bleeeeeep as well :) the fireworks display though was incredible. They do a massive display over the castle....and an exact copy over it (though much larger) over the entire 7 seas lagoon. My family couldnt take the crowds in the MK toward the end of the day so jumped out of the park and went over to the Poly to watch the fireworks....awesome is the only word that accurately sums up the display.

Our understanding is that they have the special fireworks over the MK on both the 3rd and the 4th. They also have a huge, expanded IllumiNations on the 4th ... so we're thinking of MK on the 3rd, and Epcot on the 4th :cool1:

Also, Disney/MGM will be be showing their once-a-year extravaganza, "Sorcery in the Sky," the fireworks show they used to have every night (pre-'Fantasmic').

Thanks so much for the info. My family and I don't mind crowds. I think we will do Epcot or MGM on the 3rd and stay with MK for the 4th. Thanks again for all the advice.

I suggest you do MK on the 3rd and Epcot on the 4th
That way you will see both "Special" presentations.

Thanks Mike, your right. That is the best bet. I just want to make sure we see as much as we can. We always, in the past, seem to have been on vacatioin after the 4th so this being our first "4th" visit we wanted to see what they had to offer. MK on the 3rd is what we will do. thanks again :cheer2:

make sure to show up early on the 4th, when I was down there they stopped letting people in at about 10 am! as the park reaches capcaity quite quickly on the 4th

We did the MK fireworks on the 3rd and MGM ones on the 4th last summer. I hate to say it, but I was disappointed with both. Both were very short--somewhere around 9 minutes for MK and 7 minutes for MGM. I thought they'd be much longer. We were crammed like sardines in at MK. The next night we gave up waiting in the park and sat our in the parking lot in our beach chairs we still had in the car from a week at Myrtle Beach prior to WDW. It was certainly much harder to hear the patriotic music, but much more relaxing!

We too will be there on the 4th. It is my first trip to WDW and had been wondering about where to watch the fireworks. I like the idea of watching from the Poly and had read previously of others watching from there, but not on the 4th. Thanks for the help!!!

We have been to MK on July 4th several times for the Fireworks, and they are by far the best Fireworks presentation we have ever seen. The fireworks are not only over the Castle and surrounding both sides, but 360 degrees of fireworks, it was a magnificent sight. We enjoyed those fireworks so much we had to plan return trips to be there for the 4th to see them again. One point I need to stress, we found our spot in the circle in front of the casatle approx 2.5 hrs before show time, to have a good viewing spot. This year we will be leaving just prior to the 4th, I was a little concerned not staying on for the 4th, but we plan another trip in Dec and needed to save for that trip as well. Enjoy... :yay:

I'll be watching the MK/Seven Seas Lagoon show from the Poly beach again this year. IMHO, those watching from within the Magic Kingdom are missing out on 50%+ of the show.

We go every year for the 4th (except this year we'll be 2 weeks late). The MK fireworks on the 4th are the best ever. Amazing.

Get a good spot and enjoy the show. The park itself was very crowded during the day last year but when we rode during the first parade we got on one attraction after another. We went on 5 things in less than an hr. Only thing we waited in line for was HM

This year will be our third in WDW for the 4th. Here's our take. We went to MGM and saw their fireworks which I thought were disappointing. There were relatively short and set to rock and roll music with America as the theme (Born in the USA and such). The crowds were moderate for MGM's fireworks which were at 9:00 on the 4th. We then hustled over to Epcot for their fireworks which were spectacular. We stood on the bridge between France and GB. They did a full Illuminations show and then another 10 minutes of fireworks set to classical American songs (Stars and Stripes Forever and the like). We haven't seen MK's fireworks, but have heard that they are not as good as Epcot's. Last year, the noise and vibration from Epcot's fireworks set off car alarms in the Epcot and BC parking lots. Epcot also shows famous American landmarks projected on spaceship earth after the show (they didn't last year, though, due to rain). Epcot was crowded (the exit line out of the front gate from where we were standing started in Canada. We left Epcot and headed to the MK thinking we'd ride some rides, but saw the crowd and thought otherwise. The line for the T&T monorail was 3 hours long. We made our way into the park, and it was so crowded, we immediately left.

This year I think we'll try MK on the 3rd and Epcot on the 4th.

We will be staying at the WL on the 4th. I don't want to be in the parks late with two young children given the crowds on that day, but was wondering where we could watch them outside the parks. Does anyone know if you can see the MK fireworks from WL?
