1. Are the tables assigned or
2. is it first come first serve at check-in? Also, Once we have checked in and have our table
3. can we leave and return to same table before Wishes begins? Thanks in advance!

1. Nope.
2. Yup.
3. That's the only way you can get desserts, so, yes.
But, if by "leave" you mean "leave the building to do something else" and then return,
some have posted that they have done so. I don't think that's a good plan, but
if you want to try it, its possible.

about leaving if you leave the table to get desert someone my sit in your set ( they give you nothing to reserve your set) can you leave the area and come back I did leave to go use the restroom ( it is in the area ) and I just walked right back in with no problem. this was lest April so things my have changed I am doing it again this April.

I think you have to be careful to think you can get there early and then save a table and come back just before the fireworks. I am not sure that is good protocol or manners

It's not "manners" that is at issue.
If someone purchases the dessert party, they have as much right to grab any table as anyone else.
But, if they show up early and leave...
and don't come back until the fireworks begin, they won't get any dessert.
They stop serving desserts as the fireworks start.

Thank you Robo! To the PP, we purchased tkts for the show and desserts, and we love desserts:-). I was simply referring to bathroom breaks, etc.
With an 8pm Wishes, the Party begins at 7pm. What time should I be in line to ensure a preferred table? And do they ever let people in earlier than 7pm?

1. 6:45 would not be too early. You would not be the first in line at that time.
2. They can.

last April people were in line an hour before hand to get in I got in line right when they started to let people in and it took 15-20 minutes to get in I found a set on the top ( could not see the fire works but I did go down to the garden ( old FP area) to see the fire works.

In Sept we did the dessert party for the Halloween party. I stayed at our table (it wasn't assigned but they walked us to a table that was free) and I stayed at the table while my son and husband went into Tomorrowland to ride Buzz Lightyear ride. They were let back in no issue. I was at the table the entire time so no worries about someone grabbing the empty table.

If no one was staying behind at the table, I don't think I'd chance leaving and not having a table/seat when I got back.

Sorry to awaken this thread that was sleeping so peacefully, but... I was doing searches regarding the Wishes Dessert Parties and your reply caught my eye...I booked the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party for post-Easter week. I would have preferred Plaza Garden for the better view, but it's full. Not sure if I'll keep this one, but given it's such a busy week, I might...

Just to clarify, were you booked for the Tomorrowland Terrace party or the Plaza Garden View when you went? Just checking - I would imagine they wouldn't let you into the Plaza area if you were booked at the Terrace Party, but figured I'd confirm! Thanks!

I had garden view last year and I booked the same thing this year

Thanks for the reply! That's what I thought! My sister didn't decide she wanted to do it until recently and now the Plaza Garden View is gone, but I'll keep checking for a cancelation - thanks again!

We went by this last week and was SHOCKED to see:
- The original dessert party level was all decorated and set up, cloth tablecloth, lanterns ....
- The second level next to it that they started using was all set up,
- AND the top area by the bathrooms was completely set up and their own dessert buffet by the QS counters.
- I had never seen the top area set up.

I asked the CM if this was all the regular dessert party or is the top level set up for a private group. She said it was all a regular dessert party and they still had a little room if we wanted in .................. I told her "...no, I have done it but as a stockholder I'm happy to see you collecting all this money." She laughed.

Thank you for posting, @HopperFan, although I will say it makes me a little hesitant...I'm not that familiar with Tommowland Terrace - is this the level for the TT dessert party? Does the Plaza Garden View use the two upper levels or do they not differentiate? If you were in the back section in the second picture, how would you see anything? I don't necessarily mind paying the extra $ if it makes things easier during a busy week, but it seems like we might need to camp out in this line for longer than I'd like anyway, and see not be able to see anything? I was thinking perhaps it was a smaller space...hmmmm...

You can't see anything from either of those areas showing in my pictures which would mean all have to move to Plaza Gardens. I thought the process was the old dessert party area, still there with lanterns on tables pushed up against rail stay. The first picture was the Garden folks who go leave after dessert. Now there is the top area as well. All these folks on both sides of the upper levels would have to move to see, and I don't think they would let any down into the original space. And the second picture doesn't even show all the tables.

Ok, I understand - so, in your first picture - like the outer tables outside of the inner rail that look like they have blue tablecloths would be for the Terrace Party? Like I said, really I'd rather the Plaza View Party for the more straight-on view, but I feel like it would be nice to have something during such a busy week. Thanks for your help!

Most tables INSIDE the Tomorrowland Terrace are not good places to see Wishes.
Only the ones along the rail (and some on row two) are good views.

And, the tables are NOT pre-assigned by Disney.
First-come-first-served, and luck-of-the-draw, and $$$$.

Not me!

I agree that it wouldn't be a good view - so they do use those interior tables for the Terrace Dessert Party - good to know...

I know that they aren't pre-assigned anymore - also kind of a bummer since you're still having to arrive early, kind of de-values it for me...

Overall, I know it's not the best option and typically not something I would do, but not sure what to do this time...traveling with my sister, who hasn't been to WDW in about 20 years. She's anticipating big crowds, but does have limited tolerance for crowds so may not do so well on Main Street for Wishes. At first she only wanted to view them from outside the park, which we will do later in the week, however we added a day to our trip and she'd like to see them from inside the park now too (also to see the Castle projection show). We can camp out, of course, but not sure which way to go... I'd pay for the Plaza View, just for the convenience and better view, but unfortunately not available at this point....argh!

Generally how many people are in the Plaza viewing area? I know no seating is available there, but is it overly crowded?

We are trying it with the Plaza viewing area for the first time early March. We have done the other Terrace seating many times before when the tables were assigned. I am curious to see how many people are in the Plaza area. I am hoping it will be comparable to the FP crowd-enough room for people to sit if they want to.
